7900GT, yes or no?

Hi, I'm planning on buying a new pc when Windows Vista comes out. But I'm thinking of already upgrading my videocard now. This is my current rig:

Motherboard AMD Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe S939 Nforce4
Processor AMD Athlon 64 3200+ S939 box Venince
2x 512 MB DDR-RAM PC3200/DDR400
Maxtor 200GB Diamondmax 10 ATA/133 7200rpm 8MB
VGA Club3D GF 6600 256MB DVI TV-out PCI-E

I want to buy this card:
VGA Asus EN7900GT/2DHT 256MB PCI-E

With these setting a get around 50-60 FPS

But when I turn on fraps it drops down to 20, even with everthing on low it not much more then 20 FPS..

So should I upgrade yes or no?

i have a 7900 gt ko superclocked. This is my second card because my first had memory problems like many others. I had to wait two months for them to "complete testing" on the gt ko superclocked. You would think they would take care of the people who paid more for the gt ko then the people that just paid for the gt but no they relesed the gt first. Anyway, got my card and now i run everything on high. Great graphics. My specs...

inte 4 3.0ghz

rosewill 600watt ps

GET THE CARD!
oh i get 75-95 fps

I have a 7900 gt oc 256mb card and i gotta say grafix wize its bad @zz and everything runs super smooth. I have everthing on high except for dynamic shadow and dynamic light, i have those 2 on med settings and 4x aa. My screen res/ref is 1600x1200@85h. I used to lag like a b!tch in warlords with my old comp and my fps used to be like 30 in the palace and thats without fraps. And now in warlords my fps is steady in the mid 90s and never drops below 80 even in the palace. Lol i forgot to mention i also have an amd fx-57 pushin my card.

i have a 7800 gt and I run everything by the guide at tweakguides.com, and I get 80 fps. I have the AA turned up to 4 though, so I could probally get more. I'm thinkin about getting another one when I buy my ram, but I'm not sure, 'cause I think I need to buy another power supply to support it.

Its a great card when its working. . . .

I have had some issues with the card, like random black screens whilst hearing other applications still working in the backround. I have had some memory issues etc.

But when its on, its on!! Its a great graphix card, I got mine right when it came out, so I have a feeling thats why it has some issues!!

Not true. I have a 3200+, and I upgraded from a 6800 to a 7900GT, there is a VERY noticable difference.
I play all new games on high settings (Prey, Oblivion).

omg of course there will be a diference...(duh) Did u tryd Full AA AF HD? And 1280x1024+?

Then u will notice ur processor is way to slow for that videocard

My monitor only goes up to 1280x1024. By the way, what the hell would you use Full AA for at that resolution?
4x AA at 1024x768 gets rid of the jagged edges just fine. And all the other trinkets work fine, yes.
So yes, I would recommend te 7900GT for a 3200+. For all current games it's more than enough to play them at max.
