Looking into buying a new rig and stuck between choosing 19" or 20.1" LCD.

Major Specs are E6600 Conroe, X1900XT, 2GB DDR2 RAM and Asus P5W DH Mobo.

But what I'm asking is, if you had the choice, would you get a 19" LCD (Samsung 940BF) or a 20.1" Widescreen(Viewsonic vx2025)?

Suggestions for other LCD's are welcome too!

Cheers

ide suggest a 20" lcd, 204b is nice.

Although personally, i wouldn't get a widescreen unless it is at least 24+ inches, they just seem to short for me.

As much as I'd like a 24" widescreen and I have looked into it, I just dont want to be spending that much.
But thanks for the suggestion anyway!

19" regular or 20.1" wide is about as much as I'd be willing to get - anything higher and I'd need Crossfire, which I'd rather not have to do right away, maybe as a later upgrade but I'm already spending just a bit too much

If it were smaller, I would recommend the widescreen.  Anything bigger than 17" for widescreens will probably be all warped and fucked up looking like a widescreen TV(what a fucking retarded waste of money, widescreen TVs look like shit for everything).

The bigger the better imo, I saw a 27" widescreen LCD at a computer store here in Indy, and it was like $1300.  But man, it was badass.  I just wish I could afford it lol

Hmm - I would say buy the Samsung 940BW (19" Widescreen TFT), Iam Playing with a X1900XT and  4200+ DualCore and the 940BW. First I bought a 20" Widescreen TFT but the standart Resolution is 1680x1050 and some Games are not running Liquid with this Resolution and the Hardware I got. So I decided to check out a good 19" Widescreen TFT and Iam happy with the 940BW and the Resolution of 1440x900 - every Game runs fine...

Go with the wide screen.  I have one and if you set it up right there is no distortion.  If it's a DVI set up, you will have a very "luxuious" experience.

I have the Viewsonic 20.1 and the only prob is the 1680 x 1050 because most new games will go 1600 x 1200 and i have to go down a notch... Just something for you to consider. On a positive note, I really like the Viewsonic widescreen, the colors are bright and crisp. BF2 looks great you just have to add the widescreen command prompt in the target on your shortcut. pm me if you need help

Yeh that was my main worry about getting a 1680x1050 widescreen - the lack of widescreen support in games.
I know most the Valve Source games and Farcry support widescreen with proper field of vision, but most other games such as BF2 and F.E.A.R. need manual editing of config files or command line shortcuts.

I've looked at the 940BW before but couldnt find any reviews really at all, so I gave it a miss. Frytrixa did you read anything before you bought it? I'll PM you as well.

Ahh so 19" regular, 19" wide or 20" wide
and to make things worse the 940BW (19" wide) is cheaper than the 940BF (the 19" regular i'm looking at)!
and the vx2025 (20" wide) is even more expensive

Dammit why arent things simpler

samsugn 204b kicks so much ass. so get it.  1600x1200.  Widescreen doesnt work well with bf2.

Keep in mind the cd/m2, contrast ratio and response time when you pick up your LCD. You don't want something crappy with 200 nits, 300:1 contrast and a 24ms response. Also consider buying directly from a shop, so you can check it in-store for any dead pixels before you purchase.

Well I personally can't stand anything below 1600x1200...

Go for the higher resolution if the contrast ratio and the refresh rate are good.
Widescreen is good investment for the future for all kind of apps, but I don't think a lot of games already support it, might be an issue.
