Question for you Snipers

I've been playing more and more with the semi-auto rifles and I gotta say, I prefer them now over the bolt-action ones. Even over the m-24.

I mean, odds are it will take 2 shots to kill an enemy. With the SVD it's 3 max for me, and I can take them as quickly as I can move and click the mouse. I have turned into a deadly force with these weapons, as my sniper skills have always been semi-good, but I am a rusher, so I always die hehe.

Now, even in tight situations I can pray-n-spray some shots and get lucky everyonce in a while.

I gotta say, for sniping, semi-auto all the way... screw the L96 or M95. Anyone else agree?

No.. I don't, I mostly use the m95 or l9 in CQC situations however the 5x zoom gets annoying sometimes because it's too close in CQC situations so I do use the semi-auto's occasionally.

eh..snipers are like mesquitos.. they just keep bugging and the people are always searching for med packs..someone needs to spray Raid on them.

I use a lot of semi automatic and ALMOST prefer them to the m95 so if i'm playing the mec . pla i'm usalually playing with semi ... usmc = m95

I always go for headshots, but BF2 sucks at hit recognition. My sniping is usually from like arty island to coast on wake, so extremelly long distances like that make for tough 1 shot kills. Thus, I'm better off with semiauto because I know I won't get too many one shot kills.

L96 ftw!! I used to use the semi-autos cause I thought they were just better cause you can get more shots off quicker so if you miss once you're still ok. But the range and power on them suck. I'm still not that good but getting better and in CQC it gives me more incentive to work on pistol. I usually try to stay back with sniper though and take my time. But I've definately seen big improvements on my head shots on moving targets. It's just more fun for me to get a one shot kill on someone running for their life instead of hitting them three or four times. Not to mention sniper hunting...if you have to shoot them two or three times it gives them a chance to find you and shoot back. One shot kill leaves them wondering where it came from.

I love the China one. I almost ALWAYS use the semi autos if given the choice, unless some base campage (m95) or extreme 1337 long rangedness is required (l96a1)

SVD is teh win on SF maps,especially Devil's Perch.

You just gotta treat it like a "real" sniper rifle and concentrate on every shot,not hammer away like as if it was some singleshot AK-47 with scope(although actually it is,kinda).

For vanilla BF2 I'd still take the bolt action rifles,there are more long range possibilities.
For SF the SVD is awesome because there's not much long range shooting going on and you have better chances in midrange combat due to the higher rate of fire.
And what I always say:A headshot is a headshot,no matter which sniper rifle.

I have to admit, I like the L96 for maps like Mashtuur. I was playing as MEC yesterday and I ran around the map so I was between the South gas station and the backyard.

I had a commanding view of the building at the bottom of this picture.

Over the course of the game, the americans tried to use that building to stage attacks on the backyard. For me, the L96 gave headshot after headshot.

(That was a rather good feeling... lol, they were totally oblivious)

I can't headshot for shit, so I go the 95 damage and get the point for Kill Assist when I don't get it.

I also like the better scopes for spotting-up enemy movements and placing arty, uav and supply drops in support of the front line troops.
