No. Frankly, I think if stats were removed, BF2 would be more fun. Probably 90% of people who do stupid things do it for their stats so they can look at them and go "whoa...im REALLY 1337, d00d!!11!"

I like the stat system but I would completely rework it to maximize fun and make it more useful. I have too many ideas to write it here...

Various badges encourages people to try different kits, roles and vehicles. Maybe they're not very interested first but want to have that badge/ribbon and so spend some hours learning the kit and perhaps start to like it or at least is somewhat comfortable with it. I didn't bother with AA until I went for the basic badge but became a complete AA junkie after that (long before it was improved). I think that benefit my team as usually no one like doing AA duty.

It's so worth it, now if the last patch would come out...

The stats are totally worth it. I like haveing something to work for. In my case I was really only working for ranks becuase they came with unlocks. Now that I finally have all the unlocks I may taper off.

I admit that the stats are somewhat pointless seeing as they are only visible on internet pages. If the stats could better be displayed on your ingame character then I would be far more enthusiastic about them.

If you truly dont care about stats then you really cant say you care about the padders. Seeing as I like stats I hate the stat padders.
I couldn't dissagree more.  I really don't care about how good my stats are, I just enjoy seeing them and seeing how I compair to other players.  Now, even though I really don't care if my stats are terrible or not, people who stat-pad make me look even worse than I do now, so even people who don't totaly care about their stats do care about padders.

The medals, badges, and ribbons are fine. It's the ranks that really need a check up.

First of all, there are way too many four star generals. (The requirements are too low!)
Second of all, the gap between first sarge and sergeant major is way too big. I think that gap belongs between SM and 2nd lieutenant.

I like the rankings, but the game is a lot more fun when you aren't paying attention to getting points or awards.

i don't like it... and the reason is that most of the players play for their stats and not for the team...
arround 80% of BF2 players will not play in a unranked server just for the fun of playing in a team...
correct me if i'm wrong...

No, I would say that your right to some extent dalexa. But I think it adds allot to these types of games and I personally would not enjoy it that much if you did not have things to work for. I am a team player and do not play just for my stats, but I do like it the way it is...

EDIT: just because other people play like retards does not matter to me one way or the other. Not having Medals, Ribbons and badges would not change the fact that most people would still play lone wolf for the most part. They would still Hack, Glitch and Cheat... They would not be as motivated but those kind of people are making up for a lack of, if you know what I mean.
