I think theyre pretty sneaky, just look at the armor badge:

First they make you comfortable, 10 minutes in armor is ok for your basic armor badge. Then, while youre in a false sense of security, they ask you to spend half your life (okay, its just 100 hours, but still..) in armor for VETERAN. You would be 2/3 way expert if it was a heli..
Nearing the end of your life you will maybe have spent 400 hours in tanks.

I havent seen many people play over 1500 hours, but imagine 400 of those would have been in armor, thats more than 1/4 of the most possible time you could spend on bf2! (its about 8 hours a day, 6 months straight)
I guess armor awards are for dedicated whores only?

Agreed, thats why i hardly use armour plus its so fucking boring to drive round in a tank. Possible cause as to why you need 400hours in a tank to get your expert is because its so easy to use unlike a jet/heli

You know that you don't have to be the driver to rack up armor time? Why not use the APC as what it is obviously because of its name: An Armored Personnel Carrier. Have your squad leader drive it, move in them from flag to flag -> additional armor time for 5 people and you all can still contribute to the team's victory. Beyond that, there's no map that doesn't have any kind of armored vehicle, unlike choppers or jets.

I'm really surprised to see so many people whine about the armor time. Yeah, I don't have 400 hours, most likely I'll never get them. But my aviator time is less than 20 hours with more than 1200 hours total playing time. So my point on which one is easier to get is pretty clear.

Its funny how little its used as a personnel carrier i think its because the passengers get shitty guns, while reall transport gets 2-shotkill sniping machineguns

Being easy to use doesnt mean they have to make it twice as hard to get the awards. It just means more people are going to have the awards
Atm they seem to want to prevent that for no particular reason.

If anything I would have said make the global time the same as planes and helos but make the kills IAR higher (although this is just gonna encourage spawn-killing idiots).

Only 235 people have expert armour...whereas 2269 have expert aviator and 4285 have expert heli

And, LOL, 34356 people have expert AA...wonder what that was before the badge changed....

I agree, the time for armour should be massively reduced. Im going for veteran atm, since I need 25 hours for the PLA medal and about 22 hours for vet armour. I will never try and get expert since 400 hours is insane...I havent even played BF2 for 400 hours yet!!

Nah, they'd either not get the idea that you have to reach the global time req first, or they'd be "practicing" for when they did

Was just looking at the awards, 97000+ people with expert knife

I dont know why EA thinks ppl spend so much time in armor. The armor awards should be on par with the rest of the vehicle awards. 10/15 mins for basic, 50 hrs for vet, and 150 hrs for expert. 400 hrs? Holy hell, im bored whenever I get in a tank as it is...

1. u got spec ops trying to sneak up on u.
2. getting rid of the enemy armor.
3. after reaching 20-0 in 5 mins u get the whole side of the enemy spawning as anti-tank, or planes or helis trying to kill ya.
4. each patch seems to make armor weaker.
5. helis and planes are like birds while the tank is a turtle.

Yep, the armor badge is the only award ill have trouble getting (if I end up going for generaL) because I really cant be bothered...heli is awesome fun, so is jet (already got vet badge for it) but armor...its just boring

So true but there aint nothing better than taking out a convoy of tanks with an F15.

Completely agree!
I use once in a while armor and I have my fun with it, but I can't imagine spending 400 hours for a badge. Might be because I don't mind stats and rankings but still it's an insane number of hours.
This kind of requirements force statfreaks to become an armor whore and/or spawncamper. Doesn't add to the gameplay at all.

airborn specialist ribbon sounds like a SF ribbon, think i have read on the forums that there were initially going to be jets in SF, then they scrapped that idea. oh well
