Hey people i hope someone can help me.
I hear alot of people have problems with total game crash.
Well mine is the fact that when im in a server it all goes well for about 2 hours.
Then i start to diconnect from server's. Sow im not trown out of the game or out of XP.
Butt i just return to the MULTIPLAYER screen for selecting server's.
The message says "Disconnected from server"
It doesnt give a reason why i was disconnected.

A buddy off mine said it could be the punkbuster.
That i have to update it, ok fine butt HOW???

And if not what else could be the problem.

My specs:

Asus A8N-SLI DELUXE
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
Asus EXTREME N7800GTX

Hi ... welcome to BF2S.

To update punkbuster, use pbsetup.exe ... instructions can be found here.

yeah i got this problem currently... and no, it's not ther server crashing... it's just me getting disconnected... sometimes i can play for an hour or two with no trouble.. then i sometimes get disconnected for a few times in a row.. then it goes good for 10 min.. then disconnect again... then maybe it stops for awhile...

currently trying everything.. turning off eax, turning off voip... turning off 1 cpu on my dual core... renaming bf2 to something else...

I have the same problem all the time.
I cant play anymore.
Disconnection after 2-3 minutes of playing.

Same here ! Disconnnection after 1 or 2 minutes in a server !!
No solution and I have tired everything : reinistall, fireawall off etc...
Anybody ???

I heard that it was some sort of newish "bug". Its happend to me acouple of times but i ignored it and reconnected. Dont worry about it

Yeah, that's my issue too. Only my problem seems to be the power on my router shuts down for a split second, just long enough to disconnect me - much like a surge. I wonder if they sell surge protectors...

I downloaded a different patch and it seemed to work for awhile.
Butt now the prob is back. Sow dont know what it is.

I had this problem ever since i started playing this game. I have searched and tried everything that has been suggested, but nothing ever worked. Some say its a dual core problem, some say punkbuster, eax, voip, etc. Then one day I looked at my mobo, same as the op's, and realized that I have two ethernet ports. Now im not a computer genius or anything, so i thought to myself why not give it a try. Well, it turns out that by plugging into the other ethernet port, which happened to be the one that was nvidia controlled where as the other one was controlled by some marvell yukon driver, it solved the problem once and for all. I can play all day without being disconnected from a server, hell I could even idle in a server all night long and still be connected in the morning. So give it a try and see what happens, it worked for me!
