August 31, 2006: TYPHOON IOKE COULD ENTER THE RECORD BOOKS FOR LONGEVITY AS A CATEGORY 4 OR GREATER STORM. Headed straight for Wake Island!
Wake Island is a place of significant historical importance, being one of the turning points in WWII, for US Forces fighting Imperial Japan. Well it has all the forecasters saying that it in it's self is about to be history. The highest point on the small island is only 18 feet above sea-level. Typhoon Ioke is about 35 miles North-West of the island, and is fore casted to be wiped off the map with a 32 foot sea-surge waves. All personnel were evacuated within the last 24 hours.
One of my favorite maps, I'm grateful I will still get to play BF2 there!
