Couldn't find anything about this on the site so here it is.  BF2142 will have dynamic advertising in the gameplay.  How many of you think this is will enhance the game for us?  More likely cause even more lag.  Because when I'm dodging your bullets I'm gonna take a break to watch an advertisment for long distance service or tampons.  WTF!!??!!    Post away me laddies and lasses.

It's good for EA because we as gamers don't give a fuck. So, they're basically getting money for nothing. We won't buy products because we see them in a game, nor do we take the time from murdering bitches to read them. The companies that pay EA to promote them in game are idiots.

After playing NSF:MW for 5 hours yesterday with a friend, I did not have the urge to switch my cell phone plan to Cingular nor did I feel like a burger at Burger King.

Thanks for calling me a tool you assclown.  I thought I was just sharing info with folks that gave a shit about the game.  I was making a point of the "DYNAMIC ADVERTISING".  Meaning that it will be multimedia running within an already resource hogging video intensive game not to mention another feed of data that has to go into it taking up bandwidth.  Who's the tool?  Turd throwing zoo monkey.

"In places like a basketball court, football stadium or roadside in a racing game, advertising is not only nice to have, but it's an essential component to create the fiction of being there."

Chip Lange said that. Now I know who to look out for on Darwin Awards... what a fucking idiot. Go to a baseball game, lots of ads. Play a baseball game, lots of ads! Ok, that makes sense.

Go to iraq, grab an m16 and when your being shot in the face, you can marvel at all the pretty advertisements that make your visit more surreal. There could be

Fuck you EA, if these are the brass of your buisness no wonder your games are getting fucking ruined.

The almighty quote button is nice if you want to start doing personal attacks, even if they're not very well grounded.

Yeah well it's all fine and good if they put ads in the game as long as they don't ask me to buy some new shampoo before i shoot someone. As long as it doesn't disturb the gameplay "ad" away.

It'll make things seem more realistic and have a sense of immersion, actually, for 2142 it won't, becuase the game is set in the fucking year of 2142, and the western world (which does most of this type of adverts) has effectively collapsed in their storyline. Just another reason i won't be getting it. The fact that it's dynamic will mean more resource hogging.

If the ads is going to play some kind of music or big screen in the middle of the map its really gonna be anoying. I still don't understand why they need to put in ads. Making the game cost lower is bullshit.

I'm guessing so the salary of the devs/anyone at EA (i know devs are DICE) will be bigger. Or so EA's budget will be bigger so they can make more games, then more games means more ads...etc..

No way in hell would they use the money to actually make 2142 cheaper for the customers. That isn't EA.

Provided that they only take the place of adverts on the great big advertising boards you see around the place anyway, then thats fine. It would act more like real life and nobody takes notice anyway. Everyones a winner.
Its when you start seeing planes flying past with the banner flying behind them saying "Eat at Mcdonalds and get a free burger!" That it would piss me off.

I do. But then again, im not Amercan, so im not brainwashed by the all-mighty advertising in every TV program.
TV is passive, gaming is active.
I dont want advertising IN-GAME.
Also, I just dont watch movies on TV that are hampered by some stupid  add about articles I dont want/need anyway.  Its convenient for making some tea/grab a beer  though.

its just unrealistic. HUMANS ARE FIGHTING FOR THE SURVIVAL OF THEIR PPL!!! in 2142 the least of these ppl's worries are advertising videogames. "damn we r freezing our asses off, the ice is getting closer!!.... ooo, lets play the hottest game IGN rated it 4.5 outta 5 stars, fuck the war."

Nice way to generalize and not use the spell check button.

Fair enough you do not "want it," but sorry to say it does not matter what you want.

Maybe to you it doesnt matter, but when it comes to - EA and the allmighty $$$ - they would earn more $$ if it mattered.

example:
If I doubted buying BF2142 , in-game adds would make me NOT want to buy it.
thats minus $ 50 for EA.
Lets say a couple of 10,000 other Europeans & Americans think the same way, thats $ 500.000  NOT spend on an EA product.  It could mattter.

Reply in Dutch and i will do the spellchecker for you

Well, I doubt that many people would not buy it because of ads.

You know what would be really funny? If EA sold ad space in BF2142 to Activison and Midway so we get to see ads for the ad free Quake Wars and UT2007! It would also be sad because it would show how much EA wants money.
