Hello Again,
The Problem:
Every time i play BF2, and i quit it wont open again unless i restart, so i restart play once restart etc.  qny one have any ideas?

Sme more infomation:
What happens is when i open the BF2.exe application the screen show the bf2 splash screen and then closes it, Xfire status changes to Battlefield 2, then back to Online, it does this in a period of 20 seconds.  If i restart the pc it works fine once.  I recently unistalled an update that windows was cuasing run time errors for certin games.  I have also adjusted the DEP settings to exclude bf2.  The .exe is renamed to bf.exe also when my ram maxes out when playing bf2 i get stutering problems as it sits on about 97 - 99% ram usage, im going to get another gig of ram soon to.

Edit:
Somtimes it comes up with a windows message error message asking to send off to microsoft.

Heres the details:
AppName: bf.exe     AppVer: 0.0.0.0     ModName: ~df394b.tmp
ModVer: 0.0.0.0     Offset: 00088c9c

Reinstalled Full 1.3 didnt work,
Reset DEP Settings to defaul, no luck

Just a shot in the dark here.... It's very difficult to diagnose with so little information.

However, if the .tmp file that windows is creating is having problems, you might want to look at one or more of the following things:

1) Clean out your BF2 cache. It's easy to do, so if it doesn't work, you waste nothing
2) You may have a problem with your virtual memory settings. Try setting windows paging to disabled.
3) You may have a disk problem. Try RENAMING your BF2 install, and reinstall and repatch. This will give you a "new" place on the disk to put the files on.
4) You may have a memory problem. Try running a comprehensive memory test. Lower your CAS latency or replace one or more of your memory module. You may also simply have mixed memory speeds on your blocks, if this is the case, go get some identical ones.
5) You may have misconfigured your windows to NOT clean up temporary files after ending a program. Try altering this setting in windows. You may have to use a "Tweak" tool to find/modify it.

Thanks Twist,
Ill try that tonight.  I will also try swiching the dual channels of the RAM to the second slot, see if that helps.

Okay i have done all of the above and nothing has work so far.
the only thing i havent yet tried is No 5 were can i find a program that does such a thing?  i have tweak ui will that do it?.

Also i can post the contence of the .tmp file windows creates every time this happens if you want.  and one mor ething i hear two error noises when i close bf2.

Uhm.... Well, the contents of the .tmp are not that important usually.... However, if the tweak Ui (dont know this one, but feel free to try it) doesn't help, then the only thing I can suggest is that you run a comprehensive scan for virus or malware. While I can't think of any virus that will cause the problem you suggest, there's no way to eliminate the probability without performing the scan. Also, if you're using norton or mcafee, I would suggest ALSO trying a second scanner, as both of these can be "defeated" by modern vira.

Should all of this fail to identify/alleviate the problem, then go ahead and post the contents of the file. However, I have a feeling that the .tmp file is just a symptom, not the cause.

No Luck,
I use AVG and Adaware and AVG was fine Adaware picked up to tracking cookies.

Ill Email the Contense of the Tmp file as they are long.

The contents of the .tmp file is pretty nonsensical. It's just the running processes at the time of the termination.
Do you possibly have the same problem with other games ?
Have you checked windows update for any new and intresting patches ?
Are you sure you installed BF2 as an administration user ?

Yeah man i Download 1.4 Full uninstalled the whole game Defraged and Cleaned the registry and deleted any mod files that were left and bf2 work twice before i had to reboot then after that back to once.  i havent had the  problem with any other programs or games.  im thinking about formatting my Windows Partition on my HHD and doing a clean install of windows.  Ill do a check for  Athalon X2 drivers and later Mobo Drivers and see if that helps.

Should i llook at updating the BIOS?

Thanks twist.

I haven't heard of any BIOS issues... But if you have a very non standard board, that might help... I pretty much doubt it though. In general you should NEVER EVER upgrade your BIOS unless you are having problems. If it aint broke dont fix it, is the normal way to look as a BIOS. But in your case.... I dont know. If you think you can handle a BIOS update without permanently destroying anything, then go for it... As it is, your game is almost unplayable.

The problem seems to be that windows isn't cleaning up it's temp files between each time you load the game. This is not uncommon, but usually a reboot solves the problem. You havening to restart/reboot frequently seems to indicate a more permanent state of the "problem".

If you have the time and will to do it, I WOULD suggest a clean format and reinstall of windows. If that still doesn't help, and you didn't have any luck with your memory, then I'm at a loss for what could cause this problem.

I will do a Clean formatt of Windows this weekend, thanks for sticking with me with this twist i am sure that a clean formatt will solve this problem for sure.

Just  quick question, i have two Partitions on my one 250Gb drive, if i only formatt the Windows partition that every thing is installed on, and dont formatt the partition that i store all my installs on.

Would it be better to formatt the whole drive or just the windows partition and reinstall it onto it?
