more like an extremely small minority of asians will be driving nice cars and going to nice unis, whilst the reset live in terrible smog, poverty, and with a general lack of human rights and representation. that'll last long. world domination incoming.Cybargs wrote:

standards of living is still rising rapidly. Sure it'll take a while to get there, but life is MUCH MUCH better for Asia compared to 20 years ago.Uzique The Lesser wrote:
i think a far higher proportion of white dudes will drive nice luxury cars, considering most of asia's wealth is being generated at the massive expense of the majority. having a few super-rich with ferraris doesn't really make up for the fact that the rest of the nation are basically still peasants, does it? just like nobody seriously welcomes russia's 'pre-eminence' globally, because they have a nomenklatura who all have billion dollar oil/metal interests. you kind of still ridicule them for how backwards the rest is.
that's not really saying a lot, though. less than half a century ago you were experiencing famine and mass death.Cybargs wrote:

my school was in the leafy western suburbs of london. the posho golf-course belt. but mainly the reason people drove around my campus was because it was on top of a massive fuck-off hill, overlooking a vantage over west london, and it was a lot of effort to climb it every day . plus the majority of foreign/asian students opted to move out into the surrounding posh developments to rent property, and with it being more like the suburbs than the inner-city, it's not as if you could get a bus from every street corner to the campus. all within 20 minutes walking distance, of course, but what sort of asian foreign student wants to walk for 20 minutes in louis vuitton heels?do people actually drive to your schools? ive never met a single person who drove to campus here

the thing with central london accommodation is that it's $1500 a month.
sydney is pretty fucked a 2 bedroom apartment will run you around $1600 (at BEST) to $2500 a month on average.
That's pretty fucking cheap for a large city. This is mid town or suburbs?Cybargs wrote:

Around 20 minutes radius to CBD. Some areas are way pricier due to location (North Sydney, Milson's Point/ Kirribilli).KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

average housing price in the suburb I lived in ran around 800k USDKEN-JENNINGS wrote:
That's the average around here. Sure its more desirable but not even close to LA proper, sf or manhattan. Would think a large international city like sydney would be cheaper, but I have little knowledge about real estate in aus.
