Although most people aren't paying attention yet, Biden does have being ahead in the polls currently as a feather in his cap. I agree, there's no good reason for him to be there because all he has right now is name recognition and Obama nostalgia. Evidently he's not a fan favorite on politics Twitter, and the politically engaged journalists who are bored of the current story may be nudging in directions to liven up the horse race.

I'm really impressed with the Warren train thus far after her worryingly slow start.

Biden is the DNC pick, so they will try to shoehorn him in much like they did with Hillary in 2016. They are also promoting Warren (because she is more center-left than Bernie) in an attempt to split the progressive vote so that Biden will end up winning the delegates needed to secure the nomination. You can already see the DNC re-shaping Warren's platform bit by bit. They know from 2016 they can't corral Bernie like they can Warren. Warren has been a registered Dem longer and shown far more party loyalty than Bernie.

I'm not sad to be missing the Junior Varsity Dem debate tonight.

They're all bad. Bad ideas, no charisma, or old. As much as you hate Biden he's the only one that has a legitimate shot at beating Trump. It's going to take someone that appeals to more than just the progressive base to win and he's the only legit contender with a personality that can connect with moderates.
