Huh, you guys have those too? I'l add it to the list of stereotypical Chinese immigrant businesses:
1.) cellphone shanty
2.) dim sum restaurant
3.) dry cleaner
4.) nail salon
5.) ambiguous "import/export" store full of mostly luggage I suspect is stolen from the airport, the former content of which I suspect form the "export" part of the business.
I should clarify, when I said Asians I mean Sub-Continental Asians as in Indians/Pakistanis.
Well...I have Asian friends, so I can't be racist, ok?

yeah, i did. the sort that unlock sims or replace cracked screens or batteries. i think my iPhone is a little too fucked for his level of repair. he told me it has a hardware fault. i think the problem was i used a cheap charger cable when i was stuck at a loose end for a weekend over new years. some of those non-apple cables have terrible voltage fluctuations or something and it basically fried one of the logic chips in my phone. didn't notice until the phone totally ran out of battery and had to be charged from zero again. now i have noticed. very costly mistake.

also pochsy these shacks are ran by indians/pakistanis, not chinatown types. in britain 'asian' will normally denote brown rather than yellow.

You need to get an android phone. So many devices use micro USB. You never have to rely on poor quality cables since there are so many reliable manufacturers making m-usb cords.

Was it an MFi-certified cable?  I've always used the ones from Monoprice.com and never had an issue of you're looking for a different brand of charging cable.

thanks guys but when i'm being ultra-progressive and a modern man, i prefer to reap nice benefits.

right now i'm in that semi-hipster semi-walden state of feeling very enlightened without a smartphone. for a few days i almost didn't know what to do with my hands – it's such a default time filler, to cycle through all those little beckoning apps with their notifications. i took a two hour journey today without a phone or headphones/music/podcast, for what felt like the first time in years. i almost feel sort of serene and an inner quietude. or maybe that's all the coke and whisky i slaughtered last weekend leaving me anhedonic.

oh well. taking it back to 1999, baby.

I think I somehow missed that temporal window for becoming a twitchy, hunched-over smart phone addict. Now that I have one, I use it for … making calls and forwarding the occasional photograph. So pretty much no different than my deteriorated, banana-yellow Rugby.

I saw the giant prop they used for the close-ups of that phone. Was in like a 2'x2' case. Wish I could've held it.

This was my second mobile phone (after some mid-90s brick):

To this day, it is still the smallest and lightest phone that I owned. The antenna is thicker than the rest of the casing.
And it had Tetris and Solitaire on it.

I had that one, but it was a world phone.  I believe it was the first commercially available cell phone to work around the world, but I'm not sure.  I thought I was the shit.  Ericsson T28 world

This was the numero uno phone that was sent to the service center when I sold phones. Dear lord Ericsson did a crappy job with this one.

That's a good point, smallest and lightest phone I had was also my first. That ubiquitous Motorola Razr.

If I traveled to London one day, would you guys meet me? We've spoke on teamspeak a bit. We could awkwardly talk Battlefield 2 in person. No voice changers this time.

Me and KJ should meet in person and awkwardly talk about that one round in Battlefield 2 we played. Boy I remember that like it was yesterday.

I played a few rounds with Ken on the BF2 SF TOP Warlord server. He was not very good. I do not recommend him.

That's too bad. SF was the pinnacle of the series. One of the greatest moments of multiplayer FPS history.
