I use facebook for messaging, going to the website is cancer. All of the reels are shitty AI
I don't mind AI Slop. Bots, fake people, and political propaganda should be the real focus.

https://x.com/pirat_nation/status/20063 … 7OKnIcMVqg £10k for a gaming pc. industry is dead as a dodo.
most people in my contacts were skipping upgrades when parts were cheaper. ones who are still getting these things are AI hobbyists with money to burn.
i don't like how we got here, but maybe a purge in gaming is long overdue. open the windows and air out the place. maybe if CuTtInG eDgE games and gaming hardware ever make a comeback, the sweaties (i say as i'm posting on a (former) stat site) will all be too invested in their ai girlfriends to bother the rest of us.
then again, the Big Game itself really wants to drain everyone into smartphone apps.

yea by the time this game comes out, it will cost as much as a used family car just for the ‘pc gamer experience’.uziq wrote:
nobody is going to be able to play a future GTA 6 on PC. it's over, you just don't even realise it yet.
i don't disagree. everything converging all at once has hung the magic 8 ball. the retooling of industries for AI doesn't give me much hope for a 2026 or 27 run of gta 6 on high settings, and it's just not that important to me to care about onto 2030+. even thinking about it is a luxury. we have years of trump to go.me wrote:

it's so wild to see so many decent PCs destined for the dump because of windows 11, with no replacements planned. a dying appliance, on life support. smartphones won, as was intended all along. better get your raid shadow legends and marvel wank on.
looking forward to giving those shitty glass bricks even more of your time and replacement monies? weeeeeeeeee.

"hey end-users! our big ai upgrade is ready. hello? hello?!"
Indians are already finding $1 tacked onto their mobile plans for 'AI benefits'
Really not looking forward to the Win 11 future, need to buy ~3 new PCs this year and manage two octogenarians through the process.
"Great news, we have migrated all your files to onedrive and added AI encryption for free. To access your files, for the low low price of $9.95/mth, just choose a 20 character secure password with a minimum of 5 non-ascii character,s a 10 digit passcode, upload a retinal scan and lick the DNA sensor on the side of the keyboard.
Oh and for security reasons your folder structure is toast, get used to enjoying the AI search function to find your encrypted files - which have been unencrypted and shared with Palantir and Mossad to check for right-thinking and anti-semitism."

Fuck Israel
outside of corporate machines, there has really been very, very little point for windows machines in the 2020s.
even all of the lifelong anti-mac windows/linux nerd youtuber accounts are basically admitting that, ok, since the launch of apple silicon (M1 -> M5 range), the macbooks absolutely smoke everything in their class and it's not even close.
someone like linus making a video like this even 3-4 years ago would have been unthinkable. in fact, these guys went a long ways to even creating the whole notion of the 'apple cult' and constantly pissing on 'normies' with their easily satisfied needs.
you can get a macbook air for like $700 bucks that is as powerful for day-to-day tasks as like a $2000 windows laptop a couple years ago. plus being wafer thin, silent, basically cool under any task, etc. and that's just the airs. the macbook pros, iMacs, mac minis, etc. are all insanely powerful and absurdly good value for money, considering apple's long-held reputation for being 'fancy overpriced aesthetics before function' yada yada yada.
OSX is far easier to use than windows, and always has been. the interface is simpler, friendlier, and much quicker to get around. with minimal friction you should basically migrate your entire household to the apple ecosystem. admit a good thing when you see it.
something like an imac would be plug-and-play and basically away to the races.

they basically all come with, like, a 5K-6K screen as standard too. which will be a much bigger quality-of-life upgrade to any 'normie' user than any number of tech specs and performance boosts. the quality of the panels in apple devices is leagues ahead of comparable windows laptops.
oh and apple's giant fumble over AI is really a blessing in disguise, considering how every other tech company is involved in the financial ponzi scheme of ramming AI schlock down consumers' throats. i barely even have to think about AI when using my macbook. it's almost quaint.

piers anthony (i know) was way ahead of the curve in pc users abandoning microsoft. in the expansive authors notes over the course of a bunch of old books, you can read about his rejection of word for wordstar, and migration to linux? i dunno what he's up to now but he's gotta be like 90 years old now and has left the windows techbros in the dust long ago.
seriously considering mac, major option for replacement if i need one. they gotta have fixed the weird gui visuals in recentish news by now.

perversely, i'm still using word and excel like some sort of dinosaur. word specifically is still a sort of 'standard' in publishing. but the real reason is that i have two cracked versions of like an old version of office suite that works totally fine for my needs. never been bothered to move to google docs or some other competitor.
i'm not the biggest fan of word processing in The Clowd. live documents edits with too many chefs, no thanks. hands off my stuff. you neanderthals don't even annotate changes.
it beats "this isn't the right document, we tweaked that number last may and forwarded it as an email," but still.

watching gamers get fucked over by the brands they have loyally - not to say fanatically - supported since gaming's pre-esports infancy ... is really something. considering the fierce loyalties that gamers used to develop for their preferred brands, this is really quite grimly funny. who could have imagined gaming being both a bigger industry than hollywood and also simultaneously dead as a dodo by 2026, back when bf2s first started?

like watching a western where the "there's not enough room in this town for the both of us" line gets rolled out.
both gunslingers here are in black.
indie gaming will probably survive. belaboring: this could be a good phase for people stuck on old rigs; the winding back of runaway system requirements, and AAA shovelware and all the lootboxes and fleeting services, in favor of optimising. people who still haven't played stuff they bought back in 2012 or whatever probably have more than enough backlog to work through, anyway. time to pick up that game you were excited about during thanks obama memes!

Poseidon is a NYC yid in his 30s. He has probably had to explain to a few women why he has the Pepsi logo on his leg.

games will make it somehow
Jay was the Silent Dead thing though, right?
