Infantry only is a lot of fun, the main reason I purchased the game was street to street fighting.

They are 'banned', but back to post standard I love tanks and jets.lye_in_wait wrote:
Why does it say banned by some of these peoples names?
- CS:S - but no SP and is overrun with a lot of morons (but it has a solid, non PB AntiCheat system) and has literally tens of thousands of players. Regular updates, bug fixes etc. But, it is highly repetitive.AmbassadorofPain wrote:

If I wanted Infantry only, I can think of a load of games which make BF2 look like a piece of shit and Id play those instead.
Requirements (beyond good gameplay):
- Good graphics, not necessarily BF2 in ALL HIGH & 4x AA, but good looking.
- Good sound, I didn't spend a bucket of money on sound card and sound system to live without at least EAX
- not completely overrun with morons, n00bs and cheaters
- solid singleplayer mode to practise before playing online
- must run on a 64-bit machine and Windows x64, all my 32-bit machines now fulfill "server" duties
FIRST OF ALL: BF2 is the best infantry action going - despite tanks ruining every good battle, it's still the best.Snake wrote:

Great graphics, run on the HL2 engine. And, like HL2 and all of its mods - physics. Barrel shooting and football with melons in the Italy market are always fun
- SOF2 - great SP. MP has CTF, deathmatch and INF modes (INF is like CSS, but its a "capture the case" scenario). Gold is better, V1.00 - which can still be bought, left in lots of console developer commands giving any player wallhacks, lightmap and other shit. Graphics are pretty good maxed out, considering the game is about 4years old - and it is still going strong despite its age. MP kept me going for 2 years with no other games touched....
- HL2DM - In no other game, can you run around and throw toilets at high speeds and kill enemies with them It is so much fun to use the gravity gun and topple cars to crush people, blockade doors with bookshelves/chairs, etc. It provides so much tactical flexibility and possibilities that you just will not find in any other game out there. Flat out DM play, no SP involved. Same high graphics as HL2 and CSS, but is releatively small in terms of servers and player counts.
- DoD - Original or Source, both are pretty decent. Unfortunatly, you said not to list WW2 shooters....but this is worth a mention for its fast paced gameplay and superb graphics, sounds and attention to detail in the maps. For MP maps, the detail is simply outstanding - maxed out, you will be left breathless.
Thats what I really like about the valve official maps - they really immerse you in the level with superb backing sounds. Maps in DoD:S have the sounds of squeaking tanks, arty fire, spitfires flying over etc. Makes you feel as if you are in WW2, and like BF2, you have the option of kits, such as sniper, recon, assault, etc.
The others I was going to say, you said not to mention, so thats it
I saw you on Wake 1 or 2 days ago.Todd_Angelo wrote:
Infantry only for me obviously.
Although I would like Vods/Humvees/buggies to still be available even with the mounted MGs as it can be a right pain to have to leg it on foot all the time.
Can I fly with you sometime then?King_County_Downy wrote:

Very likely; I'm working toward the time requirement for the People's Medallion so I'm having to play the PLA maps... and for another 50+ hours toojord wrote:

I played the original CS for max. 10 hours, because I felt it was just boring and most people were badly annoying. I can't imagine it'll be more fun with better graphics.Snake wrote:

Is that Soldier of Fortune 2? I loved the single player mode, played it over and over again, but MP couldn't keep me in either. About the graphics... yeah, they're good considering the game's age, but that's not enough to make me play it again after all the time I spent on BF2.Snake wrote:

Half Life 2 Death Match? Half Life 2 is indeed one of the titles I haven't tried, mostly because I couldn't stand the predecessor (yes, I tried Half Life before CS and other mods). I heard many good things about it and am quite curious, but it's not a title I'm very eager to play.Snake wrote:

I could reply pretty much the same to this suggestion as I did to HL2DM. I am curious, but haven't yet been curious enough to try it. In addition, I tend to distrust the whole STEAM-concept.Snake wrote:

I am sorry to tell you this, but you kinda suck... I have the same K/D as you in infantry, which i must admit is not all that good. However the only problem is my specialty is a jet while yours is infantry. See what real ownage is then start to complain about things "being too easy"![mcp]eltorrente wrote:

Tanks and helos are fun sometimes, but I've noticed that every time there is a great battle going on, it is always ruined as soon as some tank rolls up and does his click-to-kill skillless routine. I'm sure it's lots of fun to sit in the tank and click the mouse button and blow people up - but I personally think it's cheesy and easy.
Last week I decided to drive a tank and see how easy it was to get points, and sure enough I got a gold star (my second one ever) the first round I drove a tank in months. It takes no skill to just sit back and kill people with each click of the mouse.
You are not a noob, sir. I am a noob. Noobs are someone who is new or just sucks. I'm new, you are neither.usmarine2005 wrote:
I am still a noob, so I agree with you on that. I bought the game because I played the demo and like it. It was only my second multiplayer game, first was joint ops. I bought the game because I enjoyed the ground fighting while playing the demo. I still play it because of the city maps. The main reason I think I enjoy IO only is because I was in the infantry, and was involved in some urban combat, therefore I kind of like to re-live the street to street fighting without the fear of dying.Richard2000 wrote:

because this is a modern warfare game and not a game for noobs who dont like tanks and jets
so why buy a game when you dont like tanks and jets
Also, I like tanks and helos, but I rather not play on boards that have them since the anti-armor weapons, while somewhat effective, are cold-war era technology against a modern Abrams tank.
