Wierd Gun

Hey,
I was just playing on our server on Karkand and was in the apc.
I fired on a Vodnik, which began to go on fire, but then got blown up by 3 or 4 anti tank guys.
So anyway, a few seconds later i killed a clanmate who was on other team with a [25mm Gun].
What the hell is this? he said that he was killed by the exploding vehicle, yet i see no correlation between this and a "25mm Gun" which i dont know what it is.
Any thoughts, oy answers to what this gun is/how to use it would be appreciated.

BF2 just hates you like everyone else and so said it was a 25 MM gun rather than [Killed] Just to confuse you and make you post it.

Yeh but usually that would just come up as an LAV kill.
And no 1 was using it, so how did it kill the clanmate?

this happens with the tank too sometimes, If you kill someone with alternate fire on the odd occasion you will see the name of the gun (not sure of it) instead of the tank

It's just a glitch in the game. Every weapon on every vehicle in the game has a specific name. Usually if you're in a vehicle and you get a kill, the name of the vehicle overrides the name of the weapn used to get the kill. This is why if you lay an AT mine or claymore down, then jump in a vehicle, it comes up as "UglyMcStupidpants [T-90] IHaveAStupidName".

Sometimes the vehicle name doesn't override the weapon name, which is what gave you your kill message.

ive seen:

Me [CO-AXIAL MG] Enemy before, when i parachuted into an enemy attack chopper and killed the enemies inside - looked it upand it was meant to be the MG in the tank

somenoob [25mm Cannon] othernoob or something, when the enemy jet shot my teams plane when it went to take off. it popped up when the black burning plane blew up again to kill another guy

both strange kills on a usual server. dunno what causes them.

ontopic: it's just BF2 that likes to fuck up, i get it all the time.... BF2 makes [killed] to something like [scar-L] or [T-90] while you're sniper.

yes it shows up the engine name for the weapon instead of the kill weapon name.
