I recently read a post in a thread where someone suggested that maybe DICE could arrange a contest. People would send in their custom maps, and some ppl at DICE would choose which one would win (or maybe they would choose 20 candidate maps and then we, the players, will vote which one will win). The winning map will be put in to the game in the next patch (if there will be one?). The ppl choosing the winning map would take into consideration such things as:

Overall design of the map (How good it looks, how much effort has been put in to it etc.)
Strategic CPs and layout (Which CPs are grey, which are given to what team, where are they placed? etc. Is the terrain made in a way that it is suitable for fighting?)
Special features (are there any custom made buidlings, objects or vehicles?)
And most importantly, is it any fun?

So, do you think that if EA/DICE add another map in the next patch, it should be custom made by any of you guys? (I made this poll/post having in mind all the discussions concerning the new map, road to Jalalabad)

in a word: yes.
I was going to make the same post as you but you beat me to it.  It hink it's a brilliant idea.  I'd have a crack myself (maybe...). Especially if the community voted for it, because then nobody could whine about how grey and boring it was.

+1 to you my friend, and my support.  Letter to EA/Dice / forum post/ petition/ something?

What’s the point it will still have all the glitches and problems as any other map that they make. But still it would be interesting to see what the Bf2 community would produce.

I would say the point is not to fix glitches etc - just live with them - but to make a map that was fun to play, popular and good for strategy, teamwork, etc.

Thats mostly the point. Although DICE would obviously check the map for misses the map maker would have done

Why not see if the guys at bfeditor.org - the official editor forums - would support us.  Only problem with that place is it's not very lively at all.

great, hope it draws some attention. And hopefully, a EA or DICE person will see one of our posts and take the idea to the people making decisions.

Oh, and all of you guys reading this. Why dont you post similar threads on other fourms? It wuold be great to really spread this idea

Top 5 maps would be cool too, more variety than just 1 new map.

I am referring to a program that we have started to talk with Colin openly about it.  It might be 'everyone's' idea, but the boys over at TBF2 were able to get DiCE in on the discussion.
