I was 12 days back home in Los Angeles from a 3 month internship in New York and I recieved a phone call from my brother telling me that a plane hit one of the WTC buildings.  I turned on the news to see black smoke coming out of the first building.  10 minutes later the other plane hits.  I went to wake my ex-girlfriend and my roommate up to let them know what happened...I knew it was history I was looking at.  The moment the buildings fell I knew life in America had changed...I picked up the phone and called in sick...and I was glued to the television for 4 days thereafter.

To this day I still get a knot in my throat from what happened and from everyone that has died since then with the wars we've had because of that fateful day...

God Bless the United States, the people that lost their lives that day, and the soldiers in foreign countries fighting and dying...

At work, soon to go home, when i got home my wife and i sat in amazement on the couch watching the first tower in flames and then the other one hit the second tower Live.

Talk about the world unfolding infront of your very eyes, was a shocking experience !

Had a dinner-reservation at a resturant just down the road we forgot all about, was going to celebrate my birthday, think we ordered pizza, dont remember !

Dining with my American clients in a club on the 52nd floor of a local office tower, watching the whole thing on the tv screen inside the elevators as we hurried home.

I still remember the initial messages was that a small plane had crashed into the Pentagon, which quickly became the World Trade Centre.

I rushed back home, caught it all on CNN as the towers collapsed. Never felt so terrible before.

On the bus on my way home from a college exam (I hadn't studied for any of my exams in June, so I had to redo em all except for physics, which was a big surprise to me because I suck at physics).

I was at work, the job i had at the time was outbound telesales, but nobody called anyone as we where too busy watching the news reports on the internet.  I didn't any work that day, we where all too shocked with what we where seeing.  We where also in a very tall building and could see planes flying passed in the distance, it was weird coz everyone was paranoid.

Sitting in a pub in the youth hostel - Arequipa - Peru. They had CNN in Spanish on the TV. I was waiting until the commercial for the latest Latino action movie would end. It never did.

On my way home from school, I got off the bus and my mum shouted at me to come and look what was on tele.

I sat down and at first I thought it was like a movie or something then I realised what was going on.

In Abilene, Texas... I was in 8th grade then. One of my friends told me before school that an airplane flew into the WTC in New York. I was thinkin "WTF? idiot pilot"...

An hour later my math teacher broke the news that two aircraft hit the WTC... "holy shit"

The next period was when I learned that one of the towers collapsed... Then my fuckin US History teacher turned off the TV and made us review for the test.. then he walked out of the room. People were dying and we were forced to learn about the Aztecs... "People are dyin in New York and we're reading shit about a civilization that nobody cares about"

It wasn't for another two hours that I found out that the Pentagon was hit and that both towers had collapsed.

I'd hate to burst your bubble here dude, but people are dying all the time. As we speak a fair number of people are being murdered, tortured, abused and raped all over the globe. They are being subjected to horrible things at this very moment. By that logic you'd never have to study Aztec history.

Those are singular events that happen all the time, not murder on a mass scale like this.. using civilian airliners to kill civilans.. wtf?

I was in Mr. Barry's English class in 8th grade when another teacher walked in and whispered something into his ear. He told us to put away our books and he rolled the TV out. We watched it the rest of the day.

I know what he means and yes I agree that teacher should be forced to eat one of his history books.

Yes, so how many people have to die in one place at one time for us to suddenly worry about it? I'm not trying to   dis you specifically, mind you, it is obvious that people just won't care enough about such horrific things until they all happen en masse in a train wreck or, in this case, airliners flying into skyscrapers eventually resulting into the buildings' collapse. When you look at the victims of such disasters individually, they all underwent a horrific act, same as any of the victims in the murder, torture, abuse, rape etc... category. The only difference is that their deaths were compressed in space and time a little more. Ceremonies are held to remember the deaths of these thousands of people, but why not for those other thousands who essentially should deserve the same attention from the general public?

Well that's human nature for you.. and I'm not up for discussing that. Out of sight, out of mind as they say.

I was getting ready for school, I turned on the TV and happened to channel surf to CNN. I saw one plane hit one of the WTC's. A few minutes later, a second one hit. I then went to school and it was on the big screen TV there. A lot of students and teachers were watching when both towers collapsed. I'll never forget that day.
