You know, I've been thinking this whole night, how to prove to Nyte that his opinions on Microsoft are out of proportion. I think I've hit on the way to do it.

Microsoft is the Dice of the operating system world.

(Microsoft/Dice) have a highly popular product that a lot of people use on a daily basis.
(Microsoft/Dice)'s products both have many flaws that people have been irritated about for a long time.
(Microsoft/Dice) frequently issue patches, however the issue solved is commonly not the big problem you wished they'd solve, and commonly makes problems worse.*
(Microsoft/Dice) has been shown up by a group of unpaid, open-source coders who made a better (product**/mod***, respectivily.)

well I actually know a few sites that ive gone to, and on firefox i dont get spyware, but somehow on IE i do.... alas explorer is being pwned...

Also just common sense saying that IE is still more popular.. and has been around for a longer time... and so it has more 'bad people' making spyware for it.

Plus firefox just seems to run smoother/ better in my experience.

I used to use IE but it kept crashing and wouldnt play media, so now i use firefox and i havent looked back.

IE was bloated with crap etc, and ill tell you, i know i didnt feel safe using it.

You want a superior browsing client? One that kicks ass in all areas? One that has fewer unpatched vulnerablilites than IE, FF, and Safari combined? (links here, here, here, and opera is here) One that is FULLY (not 1 or 2, but fully) compliant with CSS? You use Opera. That's really all there is to it.

I have always preferred IE over the others.  I know IE inside and out and I know how to protect myself and my computer while using it.  I know how to repair it when it is broken and I know how to upgrade it when upgrades are available.  I am very familiar with the options, functions and features of IE and I really haven't ever run into a situation where I needed something IE didn't have.  I downloaded IE7 the other day and while it may not be original, it is an improvement over an already good and solid program.

With the knowledge I have of IE and the comfort level I have using it, give me a fucking reason why I would want to go download some poe-dunk web browser like FF, Opera or any other "free" browser.  Unless they have something to offer me that is pretty much going to make sit in my chair and shit all over myself in amazement, then I really have no desire to go learn a new program that offers minimal perks.

Also, FF was always wanting me to download plug ins and blocking shit I didn't want it to block for the whole 1 day I tried it.  I saw nothing spectacular about it.  I think most people use and promote FireFox for 4 simple reasons:

1. It makes them feel smart.  Even though they have no fucking clue what they are talking about.
2. It makes them feel like their e-penis is 6 inches longer because they are using this "awesomely powerful web-browser" that allows to load and view web-pages .0000007 seconds faster than with IE.  Like I give a shit.
3. They think the commercials are cool, therefore using FF makes them cool among their peers and they feel the need to spew the information of which browser they are using to the entire world.  As if we give a shit.
4. Because Maddox told them to change their "Bullshit browser to Firefox".  Because a fat, hairy dumbass from Utah knows everything and is never wrong.

Get over yourselves.  FireFox junkies are worse than trekkies.  Just shut the fuck up.  No one gives a shit about what browser you use to surf gay porn while your parents are at work.

And I guess you fail at making a fair comparison, since you referred to a specific version of one piece of software which isn't even on general release, and didn't mention which version of the other software you were comparing.  Still doesn't matter... Firefox 1.5 > IE7  and  Firefox 2.0 >>> IE7

As for Windows Genuine Advantage, don't assume... you know why....
https://img176.imageshack.us/img176/7418/genuineqp3.jpg

And do you what else is the shit in Firefox 2.0?  It's highlighting spelling mistakes for me, with right click context suggest and add to dictionary.

And Opera fans... remind me, where can I download the source code?  Also, how do you add extensions to opera?  And remind me, why would I want to trust my security to obscurity rather than having tons of programmers all wanting to make a name for themselves poring over the code?

edit: and great job on reading the RSS from this site, IE7...

Np, this version is much more stable than the previous. I still have to give admin rights every time I try to do anything remotely perceived as a security risk (installing any program). Starting BF2 I have to right click on it and hit run as admin every time. Nero doesn't work yet and a couple here and there but overall it seems to run smoother.

Moves are shorter after 1950, haven't you played Civilization?  I'd give 'em 30-40 years based on the number of years per move for the current era

Of course i played civilisation, what do you think i am,a noncivyplayer?

Civ 2 test of time got me going, midgard scenario was so original, and the game itself was fun.

I could complete it on the one before Deity.

I then moved to civ 3.

Oh, no, you called me a dipshit! The insult to end all insults. You have no idea how deeply I'm scarred. No, I don't care what browser people use, but I do care when one side bashes another over the fact. The fact that you called FF a podunk browser with users who generally pay attention to commercials and parade the nerdy size of their e-penises on the net called for a likewise response. But since you 'CAN, DIPSHIT,' then do it. I never told you not to.

You just grammer nazied me on a slang word?  Shut the fuck up.  Being a grammer nazi doesn't make you look smart or witty, it makes you look like a douche bag.
'Shut the fuck up?' 'Douche bag?' Oh, more uncommon zingers, there. Lighten up and accept a bit of humor.

1. No, Firefox does not contribute to my opinion of my intelligence. Yes, I know what I'm talking about.
2. My 'e-penis' is satisfactoraly amplified by my Battlefield stats. I don't need to add an internet browser to the mix.
3. I think the commercials are silly. It's the end results of software use that attract my attention. Notice that not all Firefox users dump FF icons into their avatars or signatures.
4. And you do know everything and are never wrong?
Let me put it this way.  How many IE users do you see going around advertising the fact that they use IE, be it by their signatures, avatars, userbars, desktop backgrounds, even SHIRTS!?  Very very few, if any.  Why is this?  Because IE users click on the icon and do their business and are done with it.   They don't feel the need to cram the fact that their browser looks slightly different from your browser down everyone's throat.  It's a fucking browser for crying out loud.  Find me someone who gets pussy for using FireFox over IE and I'll start advertising FF.
Yeah, it's just a browser. No, people don't promote Firefox just because it looks different. They do so because less people have computer problems because of it. Why the hell would I use a program to get pussy? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Do you get it for using IE? I'd think an honest-to-god courtship would work a bit better for that.

"Get over yourselves?" Maybe I'm overreacting, but "Pot. Kettle. Black." And I care that you use IE and not Firefox? What is there now to make you any different than a Firefox junkie heaping shit on IE? This thread was started on the basis of flaming detractors of IE. Who honestly didn't expect likewise responses from the other camp?
Maybe I'm overacting, but "Huge, Flaming, Homo."  The differnce is, that this is the first time I have ever done it.  All anyone has to do is join any random forum and type "I use IE and like it." and FF users come flying off the handle.  Even at work the other day, I was standing at the smoke pit discussing the IE7 I just downloaded and some idiot I didn't even know comes up and interupts our conversation with the comment "You guys know that IE is crap right?  Change you stuff to FireFox.".  Honestly, I'm suprised I still have a job after telling that guy to go get bent on a dick.  Also note that I attacked FF users, not the program.  And tell me I'm wrong about at least 80% of FF users.
Oh no! The ultimate insult! GAYNESS!!! I think I shall call mother and tattle. Sure, people who blindly cling to a brand name need to be smacked around, but a product deserves to be reviewed for its qualities, and not the awareness of its users.

Chill.
