I was just curious, because I'm seeing a lot more generals pop up since 1.3 and 1.4, so I was curious what you guys thought about the ease of becoming an officer.

Personally I'd like to see the badge requirements come back in. I was looking forward to the challenge of getting all the badges before becoming a full-fledged general. In my opinion it would feel morelike a sense of accomplishment if it wasn't just the point requirements.

I think its stupid to have to log 50 hours in a plane. Wonder why everyone is whoring planes, i rather fight on the ground but since i need my 50 hours i unfortunately may have to get in line.

no you don't, you just get promoted to Master Sergeant instead of the (1337) First Sergeant

also, i think that they should:

lower the Armour Badge Time req's to 75 hrs for veteran and 250 for expert.

then increase the reqs for Brigadier General to all Experts like it was before

and change the Combat Badge reqs from all veteran to all expert like they were before

I think the original requirements for the ranks were good the way they were. They were a better indicator of how well a player might be. Although just b/c a player has a high rank doesn't necessarily mean they are awesome.

I disagree with the first point. Back in the day when 2nd lieutenant was the highest rank, most veteran players where sergeant majors. So you couldnt differentiate between a sergeant major with 55000 points, and a sergeant major with 180000 points. They would both appear the same, but the one has almost 3 times the experience. Nowadays, you can tell the difference. Agree with the 2nd point though

I earned all my ribbons, medals, and badges by time I made Colonel and they changed all the requirements.
It took me a month to get 37 kills to get my Expert Explosive before 1.3 and now all you have to do is go in Warlord and spam clays and you'll get it the first time.

However, I have bragging rights to one thing that not even EA/Dice can take away from me - I was the first person to EARN all ribbons, medals, and badges in BF2 and all expansion packs first - Happy Kaboom

I think the requirements are pretty good as they are. Making sgt is no problem, but there is a thirty grand point jump between first and master sgt. its been taking me forever, the only peopel that the rank structure is too easy for are people that have no life outside of bf2, dont get me wrong, i love the game, but its got to be unhealthy to have nothing else happening in ones life.

man, i wish they were lower still! I'm bitching that I'm nearly at First Sarge, but am gonna have to get another 30,000 points to unlock the whole of the game i've paid for! Argh!

I'm thinking these next two unlocks should be the MP7 and the L85 rather than the two anti tank guns. I would love an RP90, but that MP7 is way too appealing and I've been enjoying my snip snipe recently.
