Jalalabad and Inf only also help, and maybe it's just me but I've found that I don't get as much "smoke" when I knife someone in 1.4 It's normally a one hit kill for me now.

Increase your chances by looking for a server that only allows knifes and pistols..
Sprint, prone, stab in the legs. If you miss, stand and repeat. The alley next to the hotel in Karkand is a good close-quarters spot.
one word, Flashbangs
It's harder to knife with 1.4 patch. It reduced the range of the knife, and only made it a kill if hit in the chest/head. Good fucking game, EA patches over something that I love. Fuck EA, unranked PoE ftw (Make EA lose money!11!!1!one!)

I have learned to stab at a slight downward angle. If you stab straight then you usually miss the head. the Pistol and knife rooms are fun and you can gain a lot of kills with the knives there, but .... I have heard of people getting their stats wiped from playing in those rooms.

Knife kills arent that hard to get, if you just run the whole round with your knife. You will definately probably have a - k/d ratio the rounds it takes you to get it, but to get the badge sometimes ya gotta do it. I just ran around karkand with mine out constantly, hoping to get as many kills as possible. I didnt get it in 1 round, but after a few I got it. Being sneaky helps a bit too.
Mashtuur City is my favorite map and it has a few spots where the knife comes in handy.
* If the enemy is stuck at backyard (where the USMC tank spawns) go around it and sneak around the "garage". You'll find a few prone players in or around this area.
* The rooftop by the mosque is also a nice spot if your team mates are going for the flag.
There's a spawn point inside the building and most players tend to shoot out the window (stab 'em in the back) or prone on the rooftop lobbing grenades and whatnot. (Again, you're free to stab 'em in the back!)
* When going for the hotel, don't go for the flag with the rest of your team mates.
Go around the back and try to gain entrance to the building.
Repeat what I posted above about the mosque. And of course... Stab'em in the back!
* If your team is trying to take the hill, leave the flag for your team mates and go around the building.
There's a spawn point right by the opening in the fence. (about 3 meters from the flag)
Since your spawning enemy knows there are people on the flag he will face their direction 9 out of 10 times.
(You know what's coming... Stab 'em in the back!)

I tried and tried but never succeeded, then I went to a 64 player karkand map with like 24 people on it. 50clicks, I guess it was. rounds are ever-lasting and so I got my basic and veteran all in one round. I couldn't believe it myself. probably a bunch of n00bs around at that time, I dunno, cause Im definitely no pro.
Anyway, BIG maps with 20~25 people in. I guess even the snipers are more relaxed and wont look around too much because they feel safer with just 20 players on such a big map...
last but no least: no P/K servers. They are not allowed, so you might get the badge, and you could lose it shortly as well as all the rest of your stats.
