I was reading other forums about this recent problem with the game freezing up after you enter in a server. I had found out that PunkBuster has a new update that could be the problem. I installed the latest update from PB. Last nite after I did that, the game was fine. But today it seems that it is acting up again. I just read on another forum that someone uninstalled the game and all of his profile and such and reinstalled the game it works now.

I am just wondering if you delete your profile when you uninstall the game, will you lose all your score, rank, and etc? Or can you reload your profile as well?

I had the problem with a freezing spawn screen when joining a new server (also in singleplayer). THerefore the game was unplayable.
Removed the game, reinstalled, added pathces, didn't work. Tried it without patches, with restarting in between the patches, nothing worked.

Then  I removed everything (scrrenshots, profiles too). I was the profiles fault. After their removal i reinstalled the game and the patches. Now it works again.

Don't fear for your medals, etc. You can retrieve your account after reinstall instead of creating a new profile.

Thanks a million pogled. Works like a dream now. I set up a Battlefield 2 OS installation. Just XP and Battlefield 2 on it's own drive and all of a sudden after a week of playing it started to freeze. Reinstalling the game and patched didn't work and my regular HD Battlefield 2 install still worked which was confusing.

I wonder what causes it?

You don't have to remove all of the profiles but just the cache folder should do the job.

Should removing the cache folder also help w/ long ass load times? I already searched and read the rest of the blogs about this but defragin didn't help, I already have 2 gigs of OCZ Platinum low latency ram pc3200 so thats not the problem.

Anyone have any ideas?
