You should be careful Cameron, I wish you no ill and I would not want to be caught being white walking around Cuba with a laptop, taking pictures, and E-mailing and posting shit on the internet at a time when the Cuban government is on high alert because Castro is on his way out and they think America is plotting against their country. Remember they will only ask you nicely once and if you don't give them the answer they think is right they will most likely torture you in ways that are slightly more offensive than the club gitmo 24 hours rock and roll cafe.
Not according to him. He thinks he is at more risk doing that in the US.Major_Spittle wrote:

Enjoy Cuba Cameron. You gonna raise a cuban army to march on gitmo, or just there to relax?
Update-
Settling in to Cuba quite nicely at this stage. First day was glorious sunshine which I used to get as much photography as possible done (light was perfect). My buddy landed last night and we hit the beer, mojitos, daiquiris and cuba libres. I´m not great at drinking spirits and ended up blacking out by the end of the night. Not smart. We drank in the usual tourist trap places made famous by Ernest Hemingway, El Floridita and La Bodeguita Del Medio. Live music is everywhere here and it really is top notch. Buena Vista Social Club bandwagon hoppers on every corner and in every bar. It really gives the chilled out atmosphere here some great background noise. We then went on to another tourist trap - El Salon Rojo - which had a live music cabaret thing. It cost a tenner to get in, was half empty and was pretty shit so we left and went to a proper cuban place we noticed in the taxi. I have two words to describe Cuban women - dirty harlots. The amount of attention we received was crazy. Not prostitutes either - just girls who wanted to live the high life with moneyed folks. I managed to resist although they didn´t make it easy. It would have been my first ´black´cap as well had I succumbed.
We wasted today by sleeping in until 2.30pm and when we left the hotel the weather turned shit. Thunder and lightning. Got my mugshot taken in front of the Che mural and various other famous sites (the tank Fidel commanded and fired shots at the CIA HQ with for example). Sig material ahoy! Just after enjoying watching the sun set on the Caribbean at the Hotel Nacional - where Hyman Roth et al were busy dividing up Cuba in The Godfather Part II. Before that I was down by the US mission to read their ridiculous drivel that they have scrolling across the front of their building in 10 foot high big red letters. It was hilarious - it roughly tranlsated as ´USA believes that liberty comes not by imposition but by choice.´ It then proceeded to say that ´From Beirut to Baghdad people are choosing liberty.´ Excuse me but what the hell is going on in Beirut right now and didn´t the US IMPOSE ´liberty´ on Iraq? Hypocritical claptrap. It droned on and on with buzzwords like ´hope´ and ´freedom´. Hilariously the Cuban government have obscured it using about 200 MASSIVE black flags emblazoned with single white five point stars. I have some photos of Cuba propaganda billboards that will be shocking to some I believe. They´re pretty hardcore anti-US.
Observations-
People here are seriously laid back and chilled out. The streets are filled at all times with people strolling with their chicks or children, people sitting in doorways puffing on cigars. Everybody seems to be very friendly with each other, stranger or not, a good sense of togetherness.
Every third house has people painting or sculpting. Art is massive here.
Havana at one point, I have no doubt, must have been THE most beautiful capital in the world. The fading architecture is so grand but in such a bad state of disrepair. It´s truly breathtaking and there is so much to see, a monument or museum every two streets. They really cling to their rich and varied history and value it highly.
Food is a NIGHTMARE.
One rule for Cubans, another for tourists. The tourist is king here. And life is good for tourists. Sitting out by El Malecon, sipping on a mojito you didn´t have to queue for, getting taxis everywhere instead of having to use the horribly overloaded bus-lorry contraptions they use. It´s probably quite like Miami except with more to see and do (in terms of history-culture).
This country is THE MOST racially intergrated country I´ve been to. Forget melting pot USA - this is a real melting pot, and one where everyone is equal irrespective of skin colour. Equally badly off some would say though!
Life here is different, pure and simple. It´s governed by a different set of values. Take away money and material wealth and what becomes important? Each other. Having a good time. I´ve yet to see any evidence of oppression with my own eyes (but I´m sure it does happen to those openly opposing the government).

I haven´t been pounced on for posting stuff on this website yet. Last time I flew to Panama through the US I was treated like a common criminal though and given no explanation as to why I was being interrogated.usmarine2005 wrote:

sounds like a blast. You been to the Bay of Pigs yet?
I think I asked this question before but you either missed it or I either missed the answer. What do you do for a living that allows you to take all this time off for vacations man, so thats a two part question how do you have all this money and how do you have all this time. Have fun and stay safe.CameronPoe wrote:

Come now, Spittle, you don't honestly believe that. We all know that you believe the white man is superior and could easily dispatch any of those violent subhumans!Major_Spittle wrote:

In Europe we get 21 days annual leave in addition to our national holidays. Social capitalism FTW! My annual leave gets increased to 24 days at the end of this year too. I´m an engineer working for the National Electricity Transmission Network of Ireland. www.eirgrid.com. My latest opus is Forecast Statement 2006-2012 - look it up...AlbertWesker[RE] wrote:

WOW, what a disrespectful assumption, I don't think I've seen such cowardice in many moons. Where did he mention either of those highlighted things before?Ikarti wrote:

Not yet. Might not have time. Want to fly to Santiago de Cuba to get my pic at Guantanamo!! Should have brought an orange jumpsuit. That would make a sweet sig!stryyker wrote:

Uh huh....well thats good for vacations I suppose, but not very good for "socialistic winning economies"CameronPoe wrote:

Que mala suerte.
Well if you actually get to visit Guantanamo which I can't tell if you are actually going to view the place from the inside. You would be thoroughly surprised with how much respect and dignity those being held there are being treated with.CameronPoe wrote:

Don't you read his posts? Quick to lash out at me, aren't ya?AlbertWesker[RE] wrote:

How did I lash out by observing your obviously exagerrated comment that was disrespectful??, and whether or not his other posts are, controversial, you shouldn't take that into account with his opinion on this subject which should be respected just like anyone. However what you stated was an opinion about someone's character in relation to his current opinion, which I believe, is not conducive to a healthy debate. Maybe you should try not to be so "quick" and not continue any cycle of disrespect that is in effect. Try to be a little more mature next time and I won't "lash out".
He's clearly shown on many occasions a severe disdain, if not outright hatred, for that which isn't of White/Euro/Christian background. There's a difference between being controversial and being ignorant. I mean, didn't you read that last damn post? More of his "People who aren't white have nothing to do except be violent towards whites." It wasn't quick, he's been posting things like this for a long time. It's not about maturity, and it's not my fault you don't care to read the things he writes. And don't play the maturity card when you start calling me a coward on a forum because of your own lack of knowledge.AlbertWesker[RE] wrote:

aaa cuba
My lack of knowledge of someone's personality, I'm sorry I don't keep track of that, and quite frankly I haven't read any of his posts. Address this one and only point Ikarti. How mature is it to CONTINUE the cycle of disrespect with a statement such as your previous one?Ikarti wrote:

IF he has indeed submitted those posts you so mentioned, than I AGREE with you. But that gives you NO right to criticize his opinon ON THIS THREAD, as it had NO elements of the aforementioned biases.
You may feel that way, but given his track record coupled with his post in this topic and making Cameron's vacation a race issue does look like an aforementioned bias to me.AlbertWesker[RE] wrote:

Quote how he made it a race issue, I must've missed it or sometihng. He was talking about people being unwary of tourists in relation to security purposes.Ikarti wrote:

Maybe I'm hypersensitive, and maybe I would have overlooked it had someone else said it, but I believe that qualifies. You should be careful Cameron, I wish you no ill and I would not want to be caught being white walking around Cuba with a laptop, taking pictures, and E-mailing and posting shit on the internet at a time when the Cuban government is on high alert because Castro is on his way out and they think America is plotting against their country.
Ok he only mentioned that in reference to obviously being American looking, while the government is on "high" alert. It has less to do with race supremacy per se, and more to do with, hey Cubans are probably looking for Americans (this is a nationalistic thing, not racial) and they want to protect themselves from any American govt overthrow of Castro. How is that racists, its nationalistic!!!Ikarti wrote:

You have a point there, with Spittle it can be one or the other, or both. But at the same time, do we Americans not have Americans who are black? Asian? We're not all white. Neither are the populations of Europe or Canada. From my experiences travelling abroad people will typically ask where you are from instead of assuming you're American. And if they do assume your nationality, they'll usually assume British. At least the places I've been.AlbertWesker[RE] wrote:
