BF2S Forums What constitutes a good Sniper??

its important but what i try to focus on when i am sniping is my kill to death ratio i like to have it at 6:1 when i am sniping even tho i dont snipe anymore but good job on those stats

i have an accuracy with the sniper rifle somewhere around 57 (ranked about 700th in the world, somewhere in the top 25 in Australia), and i think accuracy is a very important of the quality of a sniper in BF2, because any hit  with an unlocked sniper rife is going to leave an enemy with only 2 bars of health left, and is going make killing him by u or other players very easy. Mind you, a good sniper in BF2 needs to be able to utilize his skills in the game by defending positions rather that attacking with full gusto, so it takes some amount of discipline to be a sniper in the game, to frequently to be in the lower middle of the scoreboards rater that getting the high scores kinda sucks but thats what you have to deal with and the team benefits as a result.

Actually ur being a bit harsh on urself, your about 590th in the world.  Anyway what your saying about being in the middle of the table at the end of a game, is so true, hence why I only have 3 Gold Stars.  And i agree with what you say about defending your position, i use clays to do this and i never ever....place clays around corners jut to accumulate kills.  I use clays to protect myself from some guy wishing to stick a knife in my back.

Forget about accuracy,not with the lame "smokepuff and no headshot"-issue in BF2 (but it only seems to be affecting short to medium range,I've never had a smokepuff on a 400 meter shot).

Be patient (never rush just because someone capped a flag on the other side of the map!!) and learn how to shoot long range and how to pick off moving targets,always try to take advantage of your long range capabilities.

If you don't pick off running targets you won't get enough kills for a decent slot in the scoreboard,every shot is a potential kill and if you are gun-shy because you wanna keep up your 1337 sniper accuracy you are not helping out the team and force yourself to be less efficient than you really could be.

And because everybody was bragging so nicely about their sniper rifle ranks,here are mine:
41th in the world,8th in Germany.<- that's rank for kills,not accuracy.

Nah I dont shy away from moving targets and i hit them pretty well, more often than not however your probably gunna get a body shot and reduce their health to 2 bars, although you wont get the kill, you will probably get a kill assist.  This helps the team, and for reasons such as this I think Snipers are very under-rated.  When it comes to sniping i dont worry about my accuracy during the game, i just shoot, so...i hope my accuracy is a true reflection of my capabilities as a Sniper.

Im ranked 9th in the US and 26th in the world for sniper accuracy just dont shoot every thing you see like what most people do.

That may be because you can't see the smokepuff?
