I know this isn't the only thread on this subject (see jinto's Euro vs Usa).

I want to take the opportunity to congratulate all Europeans and to say to the USA team "thanks for coming".

I'm still bitter after Brookline 4 years ago, embarrassing yourselves like that by dancing on a green while Olazable (excuse spelling) still had to putt.  Its great to stuff the yanks in such a way, its great to quash the chants of "USA, USA, USA".  The best bit though, the manner of how it was played out.  Brookline seems to be forgiven and forgotten now.  Respect between two heavy weights and knowledge of what lies at steak.  Sport in general can learn a lot from this weekend, especially British Football.  They played with so much pride and passion knowing they aren't getting payed.  Thats one lesson football can learn, pull on your national jersey for free.  Never mind asking "How much do we get for winning?".  Golfers at that level are multi millionaires but even so, its about the Jersey not the winning pay packet.

Well done Darren Clarke but the less we talk about his sad loss the easier it will be for him to move on.

I'm not a golf lover, I hate the idea of you have to wear this n that just to be allowed to play.  I hate the way commentators kiss Tigers ass but I love the passion of the Ryder Cup.

Is it time to change the format.  Europe vs The Rest of the World?  USA just don't seem to be up for it anymore.  They changed the format when it used to be UK n IRE vs USA, USA won for 40 consecutive years.

I got up at four in the morning to watch my team get trounced like that, and while you obviously have your bias, as do I, there was nothing wrong with what occurred at Brookline SEVEN years ago. If you can control your emotions so completely in a time of victory and enjoyment then congratulations, but when such a rare and amazing comeback is completed, I think a little outburst is justified. And Justin Leonard did attempt to get his team off the green to allow Olozabal to putt, although the result would have been irrelevant. Having watched the Presidents cup as well, I have come to a far better conclusion: The Europeans have not legitimized themselves in their personal play (lack of major victories for example) and thusly the Americans do not take them seriously, while in the Presidents cup they feel that they are being presented with almost equal opposition. And why not kiss Tiger's ass? The best player EVER is going to be focused on, the Europeans winning an exhibition three years in a row is not going to win the hearts of the media and the viewers.
