The SF Flashbang unlock in BF2 is highly ignored and less used than a knife. But its purpose is highly underestimated due to it's ability to blind and confuse a players view and combat.

The FB can be used in Offensive and Defensive tactics.

Offensive - tossing it into a camping squad group of enemies taking a flag or a freshly spawned group in the flag area.

Defensive - outnumbered, you can toss this into the advancing enemies view and blind them to cover for your retreat or picking off a few of their numbers.

With a FB in hand, one assault player can easily take on a squad of 4-6 players, while they are stunned for 5-7 seconds you can take the chance to knife or pistol kill them to gain that badge.

Most say the disadvantage of using this is cause of careless throwing and blinding your own teammate, not true. Think of it, if it was a grenade you'd have a few accidental teamkills than a pissed off squad group. So best to work this if you're the squad leader or going solo in battles.

Also best thing about this tool is you can blind enemy vehicles, helping AT soldiers take it down or a Spec Ops to take care of it.

It's a good tool but I don't like it 'cause:

* It feels like it takes longer to throw than a grenade
* I'm the only one who knows if the flashbang have blinded the target (Specops don't know if the coast is clear)
* I sometimes blind the shit out of an enemy and he still sees me
* I'm not too fond of the F2000

I've been hit by those a couple times. There are different levels of blindness. Sometimes my screen would go completely white & other times I'd be 50% blinded to where I'd still be able to still something.

Saw a dude effectively clear the TV Plaza roof in Warlord with a single flash. Managed to knife me and about 3 others.

They are an effective tool - but could be better. If unsure what I mean, have a look at the flashbangs in AA.

i always throw flashbangs by holding the right mouse button until the meter is charged...i cant seem to adapt to the left click throw cuz i always throw and jump at the same time...

i usually either throw too early or too late using left mouse button

Main problem - unreliability.

You don't know which way the enemy is facing. If they face away, they hardly get blinded. Also, one might come around the corner as you move in, and you cant tell which ones are blinded and which ones aren't. Unless you are going for knife badges or something, its far better to chuck a normal grenade in.

Also theres nothing better than a flash bang to make sure that the enemy knows your now coming in..they can be effective, but 9 times out of 10 i would choose suprise rather than a flashie.

They are definatley effective against me, but I can't use them against other people to save my life...literally. I've used them and even gotten the 'x' showing a possitive hit and then the guy I just flash banged kills me.

Yep Assault in SF is really fun. Grapple Hook = Fuck you claymore spammers i'll just scale up the side of the building and enter from the sides/top instead of taking the claymore ridden stairs.

Yea it is, with fb's u never know how "blind" the person is. But with smoke u know if there in that cloud they got drunk vision.

flashbangs are good and they kick ass, if you know how to use it.

but then again i see noobs flasbanging me and two other people in my team when we were taking a flag.. then guess who showed up, 3 support people from the other team that killed me and my teammate.

the noob that flasbanged me, he was the first one to eat the dust.

boy i tell you, too many morons in this game.

They are good, and are useful on Ghost Town. Blind an enemy chopper and the pilot will probably crash into a building. Done that a fair few times to choppers
