Anyone have either of these cards or knows of a better choice than the ones I've listed? (Excluding ATI cards)

Thanks

well the 7800 would definitely be the better choice.  you're going for best AGP, right?  the 7800 GS would be the fastest nVidia AGP card out there.  I do not know about ATI.  I myself have ordered the 7600 GS.  Hopefully that will be my last AGP upgrade.

Nope, I built my first and only computer a year ago and no one told me that PCI-E was becoming the prevalant interface.  I'm stuck with my mobo, I can't change though.  It sucks.

I'll just say: OUCH.  AGP is like, what, nearly 10 years old???

I just threw a BFG 7600 GT into my vanilla Dell and she's now BF2 worthy.

sweet, I'm hoping my new 7600 GS will run BF2 on High with around 40-50 FPS.  If higher, I'll be very happy.  I have found XFX to be a good company, so I'm sticking with them.

Why not upgrade to PCI-E? buy a cheaper card and get a new Mobo with PCI-E you wont be disappointed.

Um I don't think AGP in itself but my XFX card seems to require a pretty strong power source (450 or 480 watts I think).

Guys, also: DirectX 10 is right around the corner.  That's the only reason I got the 7600 GT (for just $115, thanks Newegg...) over the 7900 GT (which is about $250 online).

If you drop over $400 on a DirectX 9 video card NOW (like the 7950GX2)....well, I'll expect to read about you in next volume of the Darwin Awards cause you're a MORON.

only if he has crappy socket 754, if he already has 939 he will be fine with jus a mobo. Oh and i just bought a 7800 GS CO and what a peice of shit, i bumped up from a 9800 pro and i get more chop with this new card on the same settings..all though it is a EVGA im not sure about the BFG but im guessing its all nvidia thats garbage..if ur gonna spend some money and go PCI-E ATI 1900xtx is only about $370 and its still kicks any high end Nvidia card out there, with exception to the 7950 but hey if u wanna cook some eggs and game at the same time go NVIDIA, it will have ur eggs and ur system scrambled in no time....

Well not really, i have had 3 of each card since i started gaming and the latest one was Nvidia..and concidering i work in a computer store and we sell both brands of cards i see alot of them come and go,  We sell ASUS, Evga, BFG we jus got...and since the 7800/7900 series ive seen cards come back with heatsinks fallen off..after 3 days...a few DOA cards, TONS of heat complaints even with good cooling, and just some really fked up graphics in games, even our tech has a 7950 and he regrets buying it, cause he always runs benchmarks and tests the newest ATI cards, and can see how much better the ATI cards will preform...they will get pretty hot to without sufficent cooling, but all and all 50 Nvidia cards with problems compared to like 5 with ATI...kinda scary, im glad i got a 1900xtx on order.

But hey the Nvidia cards look pretty sweet, and if it frys at least u will have something cool to use as a paper weight, or with BFG u can just keep returning them...lol

i guess you have bad experience with them^
Right now im using a x1900xtx, works great.  I had a Nvidia 6800 before never had any problems with it : \.
and to the original poster i say you should buy like a 7900gt, so you could still have some money left for a 8800 when it comes out...a while from now
