Anyone have any experience with Phase change cooling?

I'm asking because one of my friends has offered me a Vapochill Lightspeed unit at a massive discount (he works for a supplier!!) and I need to know how much of a pain in the ass it is to install.

I was gonna try it out on my older AMD 3700 system before risking trashing my FX-60.

Any ideas??

Phase Cooling involves using a refrigeration compressor to compress a gas till it changes phases to a liquid. This liquefied gas is then pumped into an evaporator which is place on your processor/GPU. While inside the evaporator, the liquefied gas changes phases back to a gas, and while doing this it sucks up heat and gets pulled back into the compressor, completing the cycle

Phase change is overkill.

Overkill or not....OC'ing at these temps will be fun!

Cooling performance load/idle 200W @ -33C / 0W @ -50C.

Ln2 is much better but think about your electricity bill...

LN2 is way too risky for me....I'd spill it and end up looking like the T1000 in Terminator 2.....frozen solid.

Electricity bill isn't a worry.....we have ten solar panels on the garage which saves a lot on bills!!

Gonna have to change my nick to SubZero now

Vapochill is nice... However, get used to the "fridge" sound the compressor makes. Also, make sure you either get the version that cools the ENTIRE case (including PSU and Mobo), or you test your system throughly before commiting to the vapochill. Some mobos have components BESIDES the GPU/CPU/northbridge that needs cooling. AND take care of your harddrives, they do NOT operate well at near freezing temperatures, make absolutely sure you do not strain the parts that DONT like excessive cooling.
Also, I have little experience with the newer models, but the older ones also had SOME problems with venting the heat, the "radiator" wasn't large enough to support a high temp CPU, let alone overclocking it. If this is still th case, you may want to get a spare for later usage.

And for added effect, you can get the "two cans of coke/beer/whatever" inserts in some of the newer cases... now THATS fun to look at, not to mention, a handy way to get a nice cold brewski while gaming !
