Go to the control options and reset it back to default. Then you'll have to re-set up the controls but it should fix it.

Every Skilled pilot using a Joystick..

Its so much smoother and you have way more control.

my problem is for AIRPLANES my whole joystick is backward - push left and it turns right....but for heli's it is fine....explain that one.  Even reset the controls to default and set it all up again, and still has the problem.  Thinking the only way to fix it would be to uninstall and reinstall the game.....

If your joystick is sitting off center when you don't have your hands on it when you are setting the controls it will register. Very few joysticks return to absolute center when you take your hands off them, especially old ones. Best thing, is hold the joystick in the direction you want to set it and then press the change control button, then it registers it straight away. That fixed my similar problems.

Try setting up the settings backwards then..

So when it says Turn Left, Turn right on your stick...

Thats probably a easy fix right there..

you could try writing it directly to your controls.con file

ControlMap.create AirPlayerInputControlMap
ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIYaw IDFGameController_0 IDAxis_2 0
ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIPitch IDFGameController_0 IDAxis_1 0
ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIRoll IDFGameController_0 IDAxis_0 0

(add a 1 after the line if you want to add it as your secondary control)

roll which your trying to modify is axis x, pitch you already have (axis y) and yaw which you might not want is the twist for thew rudder (axis z)

Edit:: and if the thought of doing this gives you the cauliwobbles, post the first 10 lines or so of your ControlMap.create AirPlayerInputControlMap main section here and I (or someone) can tell you exactly what to change to what.

Dood, there's a checkbox for INVERT. Click it.

There are two different control options for aircraft, one for planes and one for choppers.  Chances are, when you hook up your joystick it will automatically have settings allowing it to work...unfortunately they won't necessarily be what you think they should be.

A big one that could throw you off is the difference between rolling and steering.  Example, if you are hovering in a chopper and you push a control that makes the chopper turn to the left but the chopper itself stays level, this is steering to the left.  Versus, the control that makes the chopper tilt to the left, would be rolling to the left.  Rolling will be used more during forward movement with jets and choppers.  If you are flying forward you will want to do a quarter roll to the left (where the left wing is pointing to the ground and the right wing is pointing straight up) and then pull back towards you on the joystick (which would normally make the aircraft pull up).  This will cause a sharp left bank.  Steering in one direction or the other is used much more with a chopper during head to head battles, or if you are hovering lining up a target.  Steering will also be used in jets to help line up an approach on a target or runway.  Rolling is a quicker sharper turn, while steering has less impact on your flight path and is better used for small adjustments.

If left is right and right is left, it's not because of the "Invert" button...that is only for the mouse.  The problem is when you set up your joystick you click on the control box and then you are supposed to select the control that should effect that manouver.  However, with the joystick most of the options are on an axis where one direction means one thing, and the other direction is the opposite.  So if you want to set the control for "Roll Left" you have to actually move the joystick, on the correct axis, in the direction that you actually want it to work for a left roll.  Basically, whatever direction you move the joystick to for left roll,  the game will automatically set the opposite control to be the opposite movement on the joystick.

This is tough to explain but very easy to do.  As a suggestion for controls, assuming your joystick can lean forward, back, left and right, and can also twist left and right, I recommend the follwoing settings:

Push stick forward: Nose dive (Pitch fwd)
Pull stick back:  Climb (pitch back)
Push stick left:  Bank left (roll left)
Push stick right:  Bank right (roll right)
Twist stick left:  Steer left
Twist stick right:  Steer right

Throttle should be the same way.  Before you click on the control for "Accelerate" make sure you throttle is in the position for "Declerate".  Click on the control box for "Accelerate" and then push the control in the direction you want it to be to throttle up.  It will auto fill the for the Decelerate as well.

After all settings are the way you think you want them, go into an empty server and test it out.  If something is wrong make sure you know what it is that's wrong and what you need to do to fix it.  Go back into controls and make changes.  Test again to see if it's right...repeat if needed.

Hope this helps, enjoy your joystick.

I really hope you mean airplane pilots. Myself, i love my mouse for my helo way more. i've fought and defeated chopper users with joysticks.

planes... i can't argue... it's annoying to sit with my mouse against someone who can turn all the time, but i do know a skilled pilot who uses mouse, so don't dismiss pilots just cause the use mouse

Tyler, I told you to unplug your joystick when you turn your aimbot hax on, otherwise it gets short-circuited and wont work.
