Weird Wake Glitch - Need help

... anyone else had them happen to them?

It happens alot when i fly, which sucks - cause it usually ends up with me crashing into the ground

The FPS is what i see... and same with sound and crap..

This has just started to happen with 1.4 patch, and Ive only seen it on wake (mind you i don't play much of other maps)

Is it my computer that is dieing or simply 1.4 that fucked it up?

Sometimes i will have to rejoin the server, and sometimes it just goes away after like 3 minutes of lagging like hell..

I don't think its my computer over-heating, because i checked the temperature, and it was normal..

System Specs

Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.6 GHz
1 Gig of DDR 400 ram
Geforce 6600 GT 256 MB

looks like a graphics bug. Check your GFX card and your PSU

well considering that it worked fine before 1.4 thats probably your problem... however.. another gig of ram wouldnt kill you.. or better processor.. or graphics card...

That is quite possibly the worst lag i have ever seen. As for a fix: Have you tried all the usual stuff?

Make sure your graphics card drivers are upto date. As side for that im not sure....

Generally i'd say turn off dynamic lighting and shadows, and another gig of 400mhz ram to make it dual channel. that would greatly increase general performance. on the other hand, have you got another similar GFX card you can use/borrow to test it with

i dont even have a gig of ram and i get a lot less lag a ping of 125 and it works fine i think your graphics card might be fried

The only other graphics card is the one that came with my computer, and its a peice of shit..

I just checked NVIDIAs Drivers update..

They just got a new update 2 days ago.. so i'll try that out..

The only thing about this..

It doesn't happen very often.. so far i've gottent his 4 times since the release of 1.4

I'd second turning off dynamic lighting and shadows.
At the risk of stating the obvious, it wouldn't happen to only lag like that when you're recording would it? Just asking cus your comp isn't a lot dif to mine and its just too crap to run fraps and BF2 with decent settings at the same time.

Have you tried with different settings? I got the same graphic-card, 512 mb of ram, and I tryed the settings in the pic and it works fine for me (played with them for two hours now only wake)...

800x600 loads alot faster..

I'll try it with 1024x768 see if it lags to hell..

I like the shadows..

on wake (which is a sunny map) you dont understand how many times a shadow has saved my life..

Easier to see attack helis and ppl sometimes.. i like the affect it gives me too..

My computer can handle Recording fine.. Barely lags.. I can do anything with fraps on that i can do without fraps on..

oh i wrote my post before i read your thread. the 6600GT with 256MB is a "light" Version of the Original 6800 Series. i got this Graphic card before. my system was a 64 Amd 3200+, 2 gig Ram.

the graphics PSU und your Card WILL NOT RUN WELL WITH BF2. give it up.
i searched on countless Forums and i still got one employee who works for Gainward.
He says that the bf2 engine ist the only on who eats up the Performance of this card.

i can play for 45 minutes, than this shit happens. quit bf2, start again...same Problem.
u have to shutdown ur PC to run it again.

my solution?

i tryed 6 different mobos, 3 different cpus.... IT WONT WORK FOR U!!!!

i got a 6800GS with 512MB ram on it now....

go get another graphic card! i spent 6 Month work on this Problem---

I have the same setup, but 2 GB of mem.

I can run high, but I ALWAYS lower terrain and details to med, and lighting to low. This takes a little load off the GPU, PLUS it makes the shadows disapear which is nice when flying (unless you actually SPOT people from their shadows).

It looks like you have some screenlag. This is most frequently caused by the memory bandwidth being used up. Is your card AGP or PCI-e ? I've not seen that bad lagging on PCI-e yet.
It may alo be caused by a virus, or some other program using all of your CPU power. If this normally continues for 3 minutes or more, I'd try looking at my resource usage if I were you. But seriously, you should have the same problem with other programs.Then again, it never HURTS to scan for a virus or malware program.
