The general concensus I feel is that a lot of people have an infatuation with the AK-101, claiming that it is the most enemy-unfriendly gun in the game. I now feel dismayed because I haven't been able to emulate the same kind of effectiveness with this magazine flipping rifle. So please, all you AK-101ers reading these words at this very moment, fill in that inputbox down there with some useful hints as to how you use this gun (eg distance, scope, single/auto...) such that it treats your stats and you so well.
Short range: Burst/spray away.
Medium range: 1-3 shot bursts.
Long range: Switch it to semi auto.
Aim for the dome.

I'm not very good with it either but it absolutely rocks in close quarters.
When you run around the corner and face an enemy he will most certainly die while you live.
I have some work to do before I feel comfortable with fire fights over longer distances though.

Well, like you i saw no big deal with the 101 until i really spent some time using it. i found that is has a hi-ish rate of fire and great power as well as a nice accuracy rating. With the other assault weapons you just don't feel as in "control" The F2000 looks like a toy and sounds weak making the subconscious part of your mind label it as a weak play thing. The G3, while powerful and accurate, has a low magazine size leading you to worry about ammo in CQB's. The M16A2 has only a 3 shot burst maximum leaving you with the worry of not being able to hit someone with a 4th round that might score you the kill. So, lets review; sounds powerful leading to your subconscious mind to believe it is more powerful then it is, black, leading your subconscious mind to view it as a much fiercer weapon, good mag size and good accuracy makes it dependable and finally it can drop people at decent ranges.

The sights suck, which doesnt help. I used to use it a lot, but now I use the G3 for most things and the F2000 is I'm running out of ammo. They're both more accurate than the 101 and do the same/more damage, if you measure in shots to kill armored and unarmoured. Induvidual damage doesnt really matter.

I try to stick to the AK47-GP25, M16A2-M203 & AK101-GP30 for the effectiveness of the Grenade Launcher a.k.a. the 'N00bt00b'. It is a great suppresion weapon and sometimes you get 3/4 kills with one shell.

AK 101 is great because it offers the most fire power/support with accuracy on the battfield without using vehcles and unlocks.
Close quarters just keep the cross of the target aim above the waste and spray, it cuts thro targets like a hot knife does butter.
Medium Ranges, i will start to use iron sight unless i get caught by surprise. (ie run round a corner and meat a pile of un-friendlies spawn of there commander) this is where i hit 4 and lob a nade out of the launcher and laugh).only let short bursts out when you fire 2-3 rounds then stop wait a second (if you can) and carry on.
Long Range, i usually for the hell of it fire a nade and try and get it in the general area. But again fire 2-3 round burts there inst a need to use semi (its not a sniper rifle and you may get jumped concentrateing on a target at range).
Points to note: if you think that using semi (single round fire) is going to take the target out at a distance where he appears black. wait and think he too far away disingage and go find another target. (unless he's in the open and running toward you then the likely hood is you will nail him, make sure you have cover tho)
Also i tend to run/walk around with my nade launcher selected, this is because if you dont get you target with that liklyhood is you startled the c**p out of him and may have taken his health down.
Always follow the enemy medics, double points for grenades.
Also go on to an empty server to get used to the aiming sight for the nade launcher.
Consider you poistion anything other than close you wanna be laying down (prone) uses what cover you have and try to get good with the grenade launcher's sights, getting a good grenade into a fight will help and make it easyier to take aout multiple targets.

For long distance, jump + prone, scope + auto, if they don't die after one spray jump up and run around for 1-2 seconds then repeat.
For short distances, crouch behind anythn u can find while popping up and shooting (i mean anythn)

ak47 is better, it just feels like it does more than the ak101.
but i suggest going close quarters with it mostly, and not spraying the whole clip all in one, maybe go 10 shots at a time max, then run for cover, then fire.
if your trying to shoot people who haven't noticed you and are at medium range, just rapidly fire in sem-auto.
also, mostly only fire at prone or crouch.
it's a good gun, but you'll need practice with it.
i also recomend the rpk.
