dundee_hitman_2005: Member; +8|7126|Scotland

Playing on Karkand last night as commander away from the fight defending factory i get a message you have been killed by..... No one was near me at all it did not show as a death on the scoreboard very strange anyone else seen this.

I know what you mean...happened to me twice in one round...also on Karkand. Once I was near the fight, the other time I was sniper with no one around anywhere. I didn't die, I was not out of bounds, no one killed me, didn't count as a death on the score board but it said I was killed by someone. Don't get it myself.

Among other things like:

[ARTILLERY] XXX

or

You have been kicked due to admin decision or a successful kick vote.

These aren't actually happening, but a screw-up of the localization files. You didn't actually die, nor anything was reflected on the scoreboard. So it just gets displayed there. Period. Answered your question?

It happens randomly, just a brand new feature, albeit completely useless, they've added into 1.4. I think it's not a matter of phantom death, more like phantom code. Now we have an entire plethora of problems like 3 burst AK47 that registers as an M16. I've managed to spawn at an US flag as MEC before, unfortunately I thought I had a major bout of red name tag glitch so I didn't take the opportunity to kill everyone I could see and in the end I was killed by an ignorant BF2 player.

i had the opposite happen to me, I die, but it doesn't say who killed me nor shows in the upper left corner by what I died. I opened the console to check a couple of the previous messages and I wasn't even there. It felt like a claymore, but i don't know wtf it was. anyone experienced it?
