i heard EA took out the file so the demo dloaded quicker...... bunch of retards EA are.
Installed fine, but I get this when I try to play

Solved my earlier problem.
If you have the same thing, go to this page and download the zip file. Extract the d3dx9_29.dll to the main directory with all your 2142 files (I believe default would be c:\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142 Demo) and then run the program.

all you have to do is install the latest directx from microsofts site

Easier version: I had the same problem.
I looked up d3dx9_29.dll on google, and pretty much the first link was a .dll download site (add 'download' after the file name) Download it, unzip it, drag drop into your bf2142 demo folder, and tada, It works.
