I got my desktop from Dell's "outlet" store, which is basically where they sell off the machines they built for people who then changed their minds/couldn't pay/whatever.

It means you get a machine for a hell of a lot less than normal, and since it's already built they just pack it up with a monitor and send it out.  The machine I got a year ago cost me €1400, including a 19" flatscreen.  Had I ordered specifically for myself, it'd have cost me about €2500.  (Those are the prices Dell charge here in Ireland, or were at the time).   That's over a grand left in my pocket!  Hurray!  Extra beer money!

I ordered an Alienware laptop a couple of months ago and I love it.  I recieved it promptly and in perfect working order.

I've heard some horror stories about the way Alienware handles Technical and Customer Support.  I was dreading getting a dead computer that I'd never be able to do anything with, but the thing runs without a hitch.  I love it.

Even so, the general consensus seems to be that if you were screwed once by Alienware, you'll always be screwed by Alienware.  My advice would be to call them and ask to speak to a supervisor.  Tell them that unless they ship the system within the next week, you'll cancel the order.  I'm sure you can spend your 800 Pounds somewhere else.

Edit: Just saw the last post on the last page.  Congratulations.  If it arrives in working order, you should be set to go.
