BF2 should give you the chance to customise weather effects in each map, this way we can finally get some rain to the dirty streets of Karkand, or be able to see where we're going in Songhua. GTA can do it, so EA can too. Dynamic weather/time of day makes the game more interesting, and can also let players change tactics more than once in one round.
This is a nice idea. I would love to see different weather patterns for different maps.
However, if this is implemented there might be two problems. First, if BF2 forces this change upon players patterns like heavy rain would seriously hinder performance upon the players who are using low-end computer to play the game. Second problem is that even if it isn't forced by BF2, people will tend to turn the function off to gain a bit more advantage.
Even now, you can see whole bunch of people who actually have high-end computers turning off shadows and terrain detail to remove shadows and grass so that they have more advantage (you can't do that in tournaments...). Personally, I wish BF2 forces some of the setting such as grass, smoke, and shadow since these actually is vital to players because it is meant for cover, not to be exploited by users who wants bit more advantage.

Good idea though. I've always though games like BF2 and Ghost Recon would benefit highly from an option like this. It would keep maps from getting dull a lot longer too.
I agree though it should be force on everyone if implemented. Maybe in BF2142 or BF3.
I don't want the same version of the map but with different weather though like some games do. I'd want an actual server option to change the different weather types on all the maps. Maybe also have an intensity meter and the option for the weather to change automatically.
It'd be awesome playing some map on a nice sunny day and then the sky gets dark and cloudy and it starts raining cats and dogs.
