Maybe he was going down a 2 mile long hill. O7 Viper has: aluminum-block 8.3-liter, 505-cubic inch V-10 with 510-horsepower and 535 lb-ft of torque. Not 8.7L. I'd take a Z06 anyday, looks better, handles better, and it's quicker 0-60 and top speed is higher.PRiMACORD wrote:

True, I lived and worked in Hill Air Force Base in Layton Utah and there were plenty of 2 seater f16s there. Including an occaisional b1b that could break neighborhood windows when it took off and banked west! Sure would be cool to ride one.vedds wrote:

BUT this thread is about cars and top speeds people.
Also, if it was a test drive, and '07, isn't it too new of an engine to be going past 80 with? I know the new cars i've owned had to be driven under 80 for the first 500 miles. Hope you didn't ruin the engine.Stingray24 wrote:

Ummm no he wrote F16 not F16B or F16D the clear F16 variant is a single seater, thankyou very much your post was over the top but then again most 11 year olds do overeact. Well tbh, the Viper is a better built car, a lot better for daily driving. The Z06 is a beast but for daily driving, it sucks ass. Harsh ride, noisy as hell, crap interior.Stingray24 wrote:

. . . and get a good view of the taillights of both the Vette and the Viper as they drive past you . . . and that's just 1st gear. Whether the ride, noise level, and interior are good or not is completely in the eye of the beholder. How you think the Z06 is noisier than the Viper is beyond me.PRiMACORD wrote:

On a trip from New Orleans to Austin,Tx i averaged 115mph in an 87 Crown Victoria, had the needle pegged way past the speedometer's highest reading, and it kept goin faster, the only reason i know i averaged 115 is because i had set the trip reader hehehe. Oh and Dont tell my mom shed be pissed.
Z06 goes 0-60 in 3.5.
Specs of Cayman and Carrera S:
http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2006-P … yman-S.htm
0-60 = 5.1 sec
So you're 1.6 seconds slower than the Vette.
The Carrera S is also too slow.
http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2006-P … -Coupe.htm
0-60 = 4.4
So you'd still be almost a full second behind before the Vette gets to 2nd gear.
How bout a 911 Turbo type 997? Sorry, still too slow.
http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2006-P … -Turbo.htm
0-60 = 3.7
Top Speed = 193
And now you've spent 47K more than the Vette.
Even go for the uber Porsche the GT2. Sorry, still too freaking slow.
http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2006-P … era-GT.htm
0-60 = 3.9
But it will beat the Vette by .1 in the quarter mile and you only had to spend $440,000!

I'm talking about daily driving here, not taking the cars on a track. Nobody would beat my Carerra S on the road because i would never be stupid enough to race.Stingray24 wrote:

oddly enough, a proper 1960's shelby AC Cobra, or even a replica, fitted with a 427, can hit 60 in about the same amount of time as the vette, granted their aerodynamics don't allow for much top speed, but that's useless on most tracks
Mach 2. Can you beat that?
There's no way the Z06 is noisier than the Viper. You can't hear Metallica in your stereo in a Viper.PRiMACORD wrote:

Only counting cars ? And only counting stuff that's built for road ?
Well, sustained (driving for a LONG period of time, in this case more than 30 minutes), I did about 150-160 MPH for about 4,5 hours in my costum Alfa Romeo (sold it when I became a family man). I only slowed down when I had to cross the alps (!) That was in retrospect pretty stupid because the tires could not handle breaking from that speed.
For shorter periods, I have been going about 220 MPH in a car that could handle that speed. It was a Mercedes with a v12 engine and some MONSTER huge tires. I drove on the German autobahn outside of Hannover. The owner assured me it could go faster, but at the time I was flashing at all the slow moving Ferraris and Porches ahead of me, and some of these were DEFINATELY not expecting me to overtake them with 60+ MPH so in order to avoid an accident I didn't speed up any further.

My favorite vette was the old callaway vette that did 254mph max speed. Looks like this is the same thing? The "sledgehammer?"

I'd never change a 911 Turbo for a Z06, similar performances, but the 911 is the car. Ok, it costs 60k more, but I love it.PRiMACORD wrote:

We couldn't break mach because the of pussy-ass Navy transfer pilot. He seemed hesitant on our max/vert climb on take-off and didn't wanna pull negative g's (pulled zero and 8.3 though) or a loop. I got mine in Vegas and flew over a bunch of canyons and shit. I got to take the stick for a while and did a few rolls.spray_and_pray wrote:
