I think people lost the purpose of BF, to win the round. Not spawn cap a base just so the round lasts longer and you ending up with a gazzilion kills.

Yup. And in 2142, I feel like I... uh. Want to win the map. Crazy right? I mean there I am sitting in my AA just pounding their titan, getting 4 titan attack points per minute. Not only do I get points, I (will) get a pin thing, and I'm like... helping my team.

Whooaaaa. That's too far from bf2, no pointwhoring? OMG, that must be a sucky game!

Winning doesn't help rank up or unlock weapons. They need to give some sort of bonus to the winning team if they want people to keep winning as their primary objective.

Fuck.  We'll, it's not that bad when they're on the other team.  Just means that my KDR will continue to go up.
dont get me wrong stryyker, i still p00n in bf2142, i just dont think the infantry is as adrenaline pumped as bf2.

this was a game i played, mostly infantry, and i did well

They have introduced such a thing. Much better squadplay then BF2. A number of awards can be done from squadplay, and even things which have nothing to do with it.

Then the rest have stuff to do with killing. But more unique eg. "Headshots"

one thing i dont understand about bf2142 is the fact that support gun's crosshair becomes smaller when you fire?

To get unlocks you NEED to be in a squad, therefore MUCH more tactics and teamwork.

In fact it does. People complain about the guns dont know how to use them. People complain about the gunships don't know how to use them. Didn't people complain about how the choppers were uber hard to fly back in the BF2 demo?

Anyway...

What I'm getting at is, DICE learned that players like to pointwhore. Which is ok, really. You want to get better, to feel better about stats, whatever it is. The competitive drive. DICE reinforced that drive to get points by reducing the points you get from a kill in half, and adding more objective-oriented points. In 2142, there will be a lot more teamwork BECAUSE of the point system. Those that don't like the point system are probably whining because they can't just head into a mass of enemies and get a bunch of points like BF2. You get a good amount of points by squading up and hitting an objective. The squad leader gets points, the squad gets points(I'm pretty sure), and the commander gets points.

In BF2, you spend what, 5 minutes to get to an undefended flag to get 2-4 points? You could get 2-4 points by standing behind a building, throwing nades in karkand. Pointwhoring will turn into teamwork whoring. *gasp* What a concept.

How can you judge about skills needed to use AK-101 with so little time using assault rifles ? Skill with assault rifle means not only CQB at ~5 methers dude ... I'd say that every weapon needs at least 50-70 hours to master shooting at all ranges and situations happening during playing . M16 is harder for CQB , AK-101 for long range shoots . They are balanced , at range M16 kicks AK out , same with AK in CQB ( but depends on enemy's skill ) .

p/s I'm not bashing your KDR , had the same with your number of kills ... just lack of practice .

I see why the op said bf2142 is arcady. For me, it has to do with two things: how big the graphics are scaled, and how easy the aircrafts now are. When I think of fps arcade shooters, one of the things I remember is the large size of map items and models. Everything seemed to be in 640x480> resolution. With early pc games, when I crank up the res. way high, it resulted not only in tighter looking graphics, but everything looked much smaller, too. With games like bf2142, it seems that Dice tried to capture the "640x480" feeling regardless whether I run at that resolution, or my usual 1152x864 res. For me, not only does this give the game an arcady feeling, but it also takes away from "video game realism," in which things are proportioned so small that a LOT more visuals can fit on the screen. The more visuals that can fit on the screen, the more I believe I'm in the actual map I'm playing. With bf2142, since the sky seems to be at 640x480 resolution, for example, I only see but so much of it. In bf2, since the sky's skin gets smaller with higher res's, more of it can fit on the screen, hence, I see a huge expanding sky similiar to what I see in real life.

Another thing that makes bf2142 arcady, imo, are the super nerfed aircrafts. Of course, If I have a skill level of 10 fighting an opponent who also has a skill level of 10, the dogfights won't be newb. But compared to bf2's aircrafts, the transport/attack hovercrafts(?) are VERY easy to fly. This takes away a lot of depth to flying, depth that sets apart classic pc games from arcade games(need a wide experience of pc games to know what I mean).

There are a few things I think bf2 feels more arcady with than bf2142, particularly the voice acting. The voice acting in bf2, imo, is much more alive and packed with emotion, reminiscent of "ARRHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" and "FINISHHHHHHHHHHH HIMMMMMMMMM!" filling the air of an arcade.

Imo "fast" gameplay doesn't make a pc game arcady. Example? Quake 1 is the fastest fps' around, but I have yet to see a Quake 1'ish game on an arcade platform. Just because bf2 doesn't have "real to life" gameplay attributes, doesn't make it arcady, it just makes it non-realism game. It's hard to compare bf2 to bf2142 and say bf2 is more arcady in this respect, because bf2142's aircraft's don't even exist in the real world, afaik.

Saying things like

contradicts itself:/ And just because Dice is now giving incentives to work as a team/squad, doesn't mean we'll actually see it. Same people, different game. Half of the servers I play on seem to have autoteambalancing missing. As a result, I see shit like 16 vs 42 players. The WORST part is, 5 to 6 of us on my team(16 players) will spam stuff like "WOW. TEAMS. UNEVEN. FIX." over and over and over and over again 'till the round ends. But not ONE person on the 42 player team will switch over. If the same old newbs can't make (highly) uneven teams even, what in the world is gonna make them become involved in teamwork. Points?(and no, I'm not making this experience up.) The best thing Dice coulda done was make a tutorial on squad/teamwork and make it mandatory to view AT LEAST 3 times a month; the more one gets teamwork/squad points, the less you have to view it.

Anyways, these are just my opinions. Don't care if you heard em before, since this is a bf2142 forum:p

What my point of the whole "going prone" issue is, use logical sense of cover and CROUCH to take out an enemy, rather than running into the open and proning, hoping to get the first shot in.

so, technically, i did contradict myself..

"Seriously," you didn't explain yourself fully, so in the post I quoted, you did. And I've been killed by I guess fluke headshots no matter what technique the enemy used(run-->prone, etc). But I agree use what works to get a kill.

Crazy idea alert..

Don't like it don't play it, no one gives a damn about how you think it's a "noob" game. Some people will find it better then bf2 others wont, so just go home and continue to stroke your own ego.

Seriously people, if there is something you dont like about the game and wish it would change, you know for the betterment of the game then fine, but this is just some egotistical bullshit about how this noob is "better".

Sometimes skill-based things have depth, and depth add replay value. Sometimes:) I'm now giving bf2142 a second chance.

I'm still going to buy 2142 but only because my roommate is buying it too and wants to play together. I might get it on XBOX 360 to play on Xbox live with my friends. But to me, from what I've seen so far with 2142 EA tried to nerf everything for all the whining noobs from BF2 who couldn't play/shoot/aim/fly/whatever. The game just doesn't compare to BF2 in terms of realism or skill required to play. I am a shit pilot who is constantly trying to get better. Doesn't mean I whine that the jets or attack choppers are too hard to fly. I respect that it takes time to master. That is my gripe with 2142.

Exactly. I am STILL learning how to fly effectively in bf2, and I've never complained about the difficulty level flying a jet has. Imo it adds funnn, like "hahah I just crashed into a tree at 800 mph." The depth of flying just isn't there in bf2142. But I won't say that's a bad thing, necessarily;)
