Why a GX2? DX10 comes out in like next month. .
I don't want to be the first in that catagory... Have you heard the prices and the power needs? There is still some uncertainty about the mobo compatibility.
you only need a 450 watt psu to power the 8800GTX
I wasnt sure... they were talking about those things using 300+ on their own.
How about mobo compatability? Have you heard anything on that?

However, Taiwan vendors seem to be working on a SLI version that will require 800W Power supply.

BTW you guys do know DX10 can not be installed on XP right?

SLI versions need 800 watt but one card just needs 450 watt psu. They are all pci-e cards so mobo compatability should be fine.

The whole neighborhood goes dim when you boot up, street lights explode, and everyone in your house walks around with their hair sticking straight up.

Ya, Alienware used to be quality, but now that DELL bought them they are total shit.
First off, I would never buy an Alienware rig as I hate being overcharged for something that I can do better myself.  Second, I hate people who make vague general statements and offer nothing in the way of evidence to back them up.

Would you mind backing up your statements with some actual facts or did they get left behind as you pulled your opinion from your ass?

Dell has nothing to do with the quality of Alienware. Alienware is ran as a seperate entity and Dell has no say in the production, marketing, and quality of their product. Just do a little research.

Alienware chief executive Nelson Gonzalez said that his company will remain a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dell, continuing its own brand, design, sales and marketing, and support.

Allow me to play devil's advocate, here: people are just saying that about Alienware because it's popular to rip on large corporations like Dell and HP. So says the custom builder spending several months RMA'ing failed components.

That being said, putting your own system together is a much better deal, if you know what you're doing. You'll certainly avoid much the 'proprietarism' that has plagued said corporations.
