So I think I'm going to get a new cell phone.

...moreso, I need new service. Cingular blows. I get no reception in my house so I can't receive or make calls...and I have to stand on a chair near a window so I can send text messages. Plus, their support is shit. For some reason I can't access my account on their website. It's locked. I've chatted online with them, emailed them, and called them...and all they say is that "well, it shouldn't be locked. I just unlocked it." And when I go to access it, it's locked. Yes, I've tried clearing my cookies and cache...but to no avail. Their support people are idiots.

So, what I'm looking for is...not a lot of minutes. I don't talk that much. I text quite a bit. Good coverage and support. And a snazzy new phone.

I'm thinking Verizon, but I've also heard good things about T-Mobile. Cingular/AT&T is out.

...any ideas?

Also, this is meant more for the Americans of the forum, since I don't really need to know about mobile service in Europe, Asia, Canada, or Oceania.

...and yes, I put this in Tech.  I know it's not computers, but cellular technology is still technology.

I like Verizon ... most people I know have Verizon (free v-2-v) and they are not gimmicky (that I get 15% off from work) ... They don't have the latest and greatest phones (i.e. gsm phones)?

I had Suncom (now owned by Cingular) and thier coverage was rotten as was thier cs.

I have Verizon. They have great coverage areas but their phones suck monkey balls.

Nextel has the best phones. Hands down. Walkie talkie is the shit if you have friends who also have nextel

If you go with a digital only phone they tend to work better in places where you have signal problems.  A prime example is the Motorola e815 and is the only phone we put people in that have signal problems with Alltel.  I live in northeast Tn and this phone works great in mountainous areas where signal strength is a problem.  If you have any questions just PM me dint wanna advertise a company too much on here I guess.

whatever you do, do NOT get US cellular...all their "our network pwns the other network" crap is LIES! i get 1 bar in my neighborhood, and enough to almost hear the other person on the line on the freeway. and nothing in the neighboring towns. and its too expensive. so dont let the adds fool you. the network blows rabbit cock.

i dont have a cell phone anymore, so idk who's good.

I've had quite a few Nokias and I've never had trouble with singnals.
Yes, I've been out side of the city too
