I personally think that you should build one.

depends...when u build one, it is a great experience to know that u built it on your own. Plus, it is cheaper component-wise. if you mess up the build, you will probably be in the gutter for a lot of money. Buying one from Dell or others is a good way to go if you want a good warranty and some peice of mind. BTW, i just upgraded my computer recently by myself (new GFX card, mobo, processor, PSU, monitor, and other little stuff).

My opinion for what its worth as a computer tech is to build your own every time, Alien is like most other systems in that they use generic components or their own mobo's which are still made in China or Taiwan....wrap it up in a fancy box and a give it a big price tag and throw in a bit of fancy marketing.

Find a local tech or ask on these forums for advise on the system you need....these guys are gamers and most are bang on with there advise  such as Ram Hard drive cases etc.  Good Luck.

Build your own, You get full Manuals to tell you how, and you can goto www.overclockers.com  goto the forums and they have guides on how to build from the ground up. Its very simple and fun to do. DONT be afraid of it.

If you choose not to, Please try The cyberpower Link posted, Ive had to use them in alot of builds for friends when i just dont have time to do a build, they are a great company and will work with you every step.

For the Gent that said that Most companies use generic parts from Tiwan and such, Most Motherboards are from Tiwan lol. Ill list some, Asus, Gigabyte, Abit, Ect Ect. Sorry to say, But Tiwan happens to be where all the Tech and manufacturing jobs are now, so naturally thats where your parts will come from. Only bad part about this is, you have to speak to someone with broken english to get customer support most of the time. Thank god ive never had to use it LOL.

Build. By building your own you will gain a skill and develop an understanding of what computer components actually cost.

Taiwan mobos > all. Since when did the US start making mobos... Asus, DFI, Gigabyte, MSI all those big companies are from Taiwan. You fail.

Build your own ftw.

Another vote here for building your own.  I recently built my own comp for the first time, and it's a great feeling of pride, plus I understand where everything is inside the compter, and I'm much more confident about upgrading stuff.

Whats wrong with Taiwan or China (same thing technically i believe)?

Despite cost, if China/Tawian was poor noone would still buy it ... ah .. but they do.

Btw .. You will see China china probably become the next Japan in the years to come in terms of automobiles.

The hardest parts to building your own PC is picking witch components you buy ( matching compatibility), you can get plenty of help for that.   Then some people stumble with the flashing the BIOS to the newest version or installing raid configurations for the hard drives but again you can get help with that.

Actually putting together the PC only takes a 2-4 hours or faster if you know what your doing.  Then installing the OS and configuring things to be the way you like.

Ordering parts on-line is recommended for building your own PC.  Most stuff has a 1 or more year warranty and with sites like newegg.com and zipzoomfly.com you can get your parts with in a week at little or no shipping cost.

If your smart and/or can find solutions to your PC problems on-line then you don't need Tech support witch is either a wast of time or very expensive most of the time.  If you have a virus that you can't get rid of and you send your PC into dell there most likely going to reformat and re-install with basic windows witch you can do at home with out sending your PC away.

Taiwan makes 95% of RAM, Mobo, GFX. US barely makes anything...
