finally going pci.  and no i'm not going to wait for dx10.  besides, my build was on a minor budget.  keep in mind i have picked a mobo with only one  pci16 slot so doesn't look like i'll be sli or crossfireing.  please give your opinion on which would be the better buy.  or other ideas perhaps.  i'm staying in the $200 range.  so the 7900gto might be to out of reach.

Ive tested both. I will say get the X1900. Heres a link to compare the 2. In benchmarks AND in real games.

The ones in blue are the 2 cards. Change the games compared in the bottom selection to get more comparisons.

Again, go with the 1900, More bang for the buck right now. Plus better Image Quality. The 1900 Reall OUTPERFORMS the 7900 when you turn on AA and AF, And if anyone says That that doesnt matter, then i say, why buy a card if you dont use what its made for?  If someone says Just use higher resolutions, then i say, Ok ANY card will do Higher resolutions, Why not just get a cheap ass card then LOL. Its ALL about how well a card does when you turn on the features It was ment to run.

from all the articles around they seem to point to the X1900 ....but I run a 7800 GT which works for me just fine....I suppose it boils dont to your own personal choice...

Nvidia seem to update drivers quicker
ATI has dedicated memory support. (Corsair I think)

I would decide by going the opposite of the last card I had.

Either way both cards are good at what they were made for!!

Good luck!
