G'day,

My specs are:

1gig ram (just a 1gig stick)
ATI 9600 256mb video card
3.0 gHz pent 4
I'm running BF2 settings all on low/off, 90% view distance

Its been on and off for a while...for the past week ive got horrible FPS while playing BF2 (32 man jala server) I get around 15-20 FPS constantly. On 64 player karkand I can barely play...I get around 10-15 FPS.
A few weeks ago I was having the same problem...but this was with 1256 mb ram, I took out the 256 stick and all was fine for a week or so, then it started happening again.
What can be done to try and fix this?

In your ATI driver settings, see if you have anti-aliasing on. IF so, there shuld be an option to turn it off or application controlled anti-aliasing settings. Sorry if this isn't the exact wording, but I use Nvidia so I'm on familiar with forceware. Try this first, also try updating your drivers if this doesn't fix things.

Also, your video card is super old for battlefield...that might explain it right there.

@liquix: it was set to 'let the application decide' and on BF2 it is off

@Trigger: ugh...more money...are there many good AGP cards still around?

I agree with Trigger.  That videocard is not good for BF2.  I have a 9800 Pro 256MB card and run BF2 just fine on high settings.  I would venture to guess ur low FPS is due to that card.

i have a ati 9600 pro 256mb and it runs fine, my fps isnt that low even with all the settings on medium.

medium = 25-30 fps
low = 30-40 fps

my specs:

AMD Sempron 3100+  1.81ghz
2gb OCZ Dual Channel PC3200 DDR 400MHz
ATI Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb

But you see, my FPS hasn't always been this bad...ive always had the same video card and RAM...and I could play 64 karkand without problems.
What could be another problem thats causing this?
