I don't think private transactions should have to go through a dealer. Would be nice if an individual could call or go online for a free background check though.

nice lookin' stick. how do you like the 1.5 chassis? are you using modified magazines for that fat little wsm? interesting that you take the thing apart for storage. do you have to deal with any poi shift?

Same magazines as the .308, just tweaked the feed rails a touch, and modified the front lip of the magazine spacer to feed the stubby 300 WSM shoulder better.
Stubby little WSM, those long magazine feed rails are essential.
WSM doesn't feed well from factory Rem/Win internal magazine - not enough control to see it properly into the chamber.
There are a couple of companies making true 300 WSM mags for the AICS.
Will try those later, perhaps.
Pelican case is just for long distance travel.
If it's going in the Pelican for a long trip, I'm going to be rezeroing anyways.
For local travel (not rezeroing), soft case works fine.
Just got it back from the 'smith.
New barrel, tighter chamber.
Was 82.5gr H20 capacity, now about 78.5gr H2O.
Old barrel and chamber was most accurate at 2950fps w/ 210 Bergers - but was a touch hard on brass to get that accuracy node.
New barrel and chamber should be happy at 2750fps w/ 210's at a barrel-friendly mid-50kpsi pressure.
Would've gone with a old reliable 300 WM in a AICS long action, but the 300 WSM is much more efficient on powder (thus kinder on barrels), slightly more inherently accurate (IMHO, see also 6mm PPC). Oh, and the fact that the WSM just thrives on RL-17 & H4350 is a plus.
Who makes good custom reamers at a reasonable price?
I need a forcing cone reamer made, and will need a muzzle crown reamer - both for a .308 barrel. (Need a lathe too...). Prefer changeable centres.
