My brother, a family friend, and I were all shooting the 12g mossberg and my little ole' .22 out plinking some rounds when 2 officers came out to our property from the woods armed with an old m16-a1 and some shotgun. They came out to tell us we were allowed to do what we were doing but they had to come out anyways haha.

I just like meeting people in interesting ways, and a few people coming out of the bush and then you spend time plinking with them? that would be awesome, just saying.

I don't know if I mentioned this earlier. I received a Ruger Mini-14 from my uncle for my 18th birthday. I'll be getting an M1 Garand later.

Here's a picture from online that I found, this resembles my mini 14 the most.

In fact, I think that's the exact same stock and everything. edit: except my barrel is stainless.

Ah shit im sorry. Me being used to the dull intelect of some of the users i read your post as "It would be funny if they started shooting you". Usually i expect replies like that. But yeah that would be really cool. It was the same police officer that came to my brothers house when one of his pistols was stolen. Weird thing is they left the AR-15 that was sitting in his kitchen.

From a value perspective, that is really odd.  From a "which guns are used in crimes most frequently" view, it makes perfect sense.  Rifles are used in something like 2% of crimes involving firearms.  IIRC, the most common "crime guns" are small-caliber pistols (.25, .380, and 9mm) and pump-action shotguns.

Seems likely, you're not going to go and mug someone with a full size AR...

Surprised as hell that that is available for sale.
A golf ball is 1.680" diameter, anything above 0.60" diameter can be classified as a destructive device by the US BATF.
Depending on whether or not the particular inspecting BATF agent got laid that week, the barometric pressure outside, and/or/maybe the whims of the current administration heads in D.C.

27 C.F.R. § 479.11 wrote:

Meaning of terms. Title 27 Code of Federal Regulations - Alcohol, Tobacco Products and Firearms
Destructive device. (a) Any explosive, incendiary, or poison gas (1) bomb, (2) grenade, (3) rocket having a propellent charge of more than 4 ounces, (4) missile having an explosive or incendiary charge of more than one-quarter ounce, (5) mine, or (6) similar device; (b) any type of weapon by whatever name known which will, or which may be readily converted to, expel a projectile by the action of an explosive or other propellant, the barrel or barrels of which have a bore of more than one-half inch in diameter, except a shotgun or shotgun shell which the Director finds is generally recognized as particularly suitable for sporting purposes; and (c) any combination of parts either designed or intended for use in converting any device into a destructive device as described in paragraphs (a) and (b) of this definition and from which a destructive device may be readily assembled. The term shall not include any device which is neither designed or redesigned for use as a weapon; any device, although originally designed for use as a weapon, which is redesigned for use as a signaling, pyrotechnic, line throwing, safety, or similar device; surplus ordnance sold, loaned, or given by the Secretary of the Army under 10 U.S.C. 4684(2), 4685, or 4686, or any device which the Director finds is not likely to be used as a weapon, or is an antique or is a rifle which the owner intends to use solely for sporting purposes.
Reading through the ATF letter to the manufacturer of a (that?) blank-propelled golf ball launcher here, it seems that BATF agent ruled that launcher a non-destructive device, that day.

As inconsistent and mercurial as our BATF is here, I personally wouldn't own one.

Would absolutely love to take one to a golf range though.

FOOOOooooooooorrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeee! Ka-whump!
'Adjust 2+, 3R, fire for effects!'

Hrm...  Golf Ball Launcher is $50, old USGI grenade launcher quadrant sights $50...
Would be amusing to set up some old 5 gallon buckets for 'mortar ball holes', out in a field.

>sigh<  I miss my old Zeiss scope.

This Trijicon TR23 5-20x50mm is junk.
Absolutely will not show a clear image past 10x magnification.
Mid day, clear skies.
Fucking garbage scope.

I suppose that's what you get from a company that thinks a 4x fixed power scope is worth $1500.

I would have thought they could call the golf ball thing a flash hider and ban it on that basis.

They could call it a destructive device.
BATF did review that one, and it currently is not classified as a destructive device.

The key wording is "which the Director finds is generally recognized as particularly suitable for sporting purposes".
Very much subject to the direction of the winds in Washington D.C., and BATF whims.

I cannot speak for New Joisy, Chicagoland, Peoples Democratic Republic of Kalifornia (PDRK), or Massachusetts.
Rest of the USA, though, flash hiders are okay, AFAIK.

The new ACOG RCOs we just got are nice. We only just got those for deployment though. Still have the first gen ACOGs on our M4s for now.

below 1200 dollars.

Thought about a 1911 either springfield or Kimber, but 1911's seem to be finicky to say the least and Kimber especially now has questionable quality from what the forums say
