see in this country a variant = something that looks like something that's banned

we simply don't have the resources to fight rules like this... because they will appeal appeal appeal appeal and bury us in court costs until we just can't fight anymore

Money

Considering an air-gun (what you americans call BB-gun) to shoot cans in the back yard, but they are expensive as well although not as much. and they don't have any legal requirements except for 18 year age limit.

air rifles are fun and a great learning tool.  If you do get into shooting, I'd suggest starting small,  work your way up,  get to know the rules and regulations, the equipment, the places,  the people.  Develop a relationship with a gun shop.  Ease into it.

This is what an "air gun" shoots... pellets...

I kinda like this one, although I know I'll be irritated by the 1 shot capacity :<

Find a club, I would expect they will have some guns you can use.
http://www.skydebaner.com/ I think...

With shooting especially its important to learn the right technique from the start, a proper club will help with that.

you're a beginner, you barely know how to use iron sights, and you think you need a scope?

Airguns use lead pellets - as shown in floppy's pic and a rifled barrel.

BB guns typically use steel ball-bearings and a smooth-bore barrel - at least these days.

bb guns shoot BBs (small metal balls)

air rifles shoot pellets, which are usually lead as shown above or other metals and some very hard plastics

damn you dilbert!

hmm, all the BB guns i used had rifled barrels   granted it's been a long time now lol... is this something new companies are doing?

Changed my mind, going for this now:
https://www.iversen-import.dk/SL/PI/1/29/b3b07f7e-3e0c-4792-bc6e-8bff8915107f.jpg?c=0_2
Scope is included, shoots harder (only 4.5 though), looks cooler and same price.

And yeah, barrels are rifled...

EDIT: oh and as far as I know, lead ammo is forbidden in Denmark due to them polluting the forests if hunters use it...

jesus your hunting ammo must be EXPENSIVE

90% of the hunting ammo here is copper jacketed lead core

lead shot (for shotguns obv.) is banned here near waterways while bird hunting

Well consider that ground water is our only major source of water.. we have to keep the lead to a minimum...

Ah. This.

https://airgunuk.co.uk/image.php?productid=16143

Any big differences with the guns then? Now that this was sorted out a hint, I've shot a gazillion times with an airgun as a kid. Used to go buy a huge pile of plastic soldiers with my friend and spend a couple hours setting them up in forts and such and start sniping them from a distance. Had some firecrackers for grenades too Ah, memories...

The first gun was available in both 5.5 and 4.5 but only had a velocity of 305 and 230 whereas the other one I found was 4.5 with a velocity of 365metres per second

EDIT: oh btw, I think airguns use led pellets, but for hunting rifles, led is stricktly forbidden

Honestly, so what?
If its a spring gun the recoil due to the pellet is trivial compared with the spring/piston, if its pre-compressed then the total recoil is trivial.

Seriously, go to a gallery range and get the 'OMG it goes kaboom, how awsm is that' thing out of your system - should take an hour or so, then if you're still interested join a club.

Protip: Hunters/Marksmen/Snipers don't like recoil, blast or a big bang.

So why do you care about velocity? I'd check which ammo they're quoting velocities with too.

More velocity = longer pellet travel & better accuracy...

are you serious? the rifles are the same brand, and the velocity is given from factory... I even think the shop tests them...
and what does it matter what ammo was used, seems obvious to use "standard", flat-pellets when they are the most common. and tbh I can't see it making much difference on air rifles...

I'm getting some sharp pellets and some hollow points, for marksman shooting and juicing fruits..
