are you serious? the rifles are the same brand, and the velocity is given from factory... I even think the shop tests them...
and what does it matter what ammo was used, seems obvious to use "standard", flat-pellets when they are the most common. and tbh I can't see it making much difference on air rifles...

I'm getting some sharp pellets and some hollow points, for marksman shooting and juicing fruits..
From the website: '-Velocity: 1200 feet per second (fps) with PBA, 1000 fps with Lead'
http://www.gamousa.com/product.aspx?product=Shadow Fox&productID=287
Thats 365m/s vs 305m/s by changing the pellet.

Anyway, seems to make more sense than a 45/70.

At least I can use this where-ever it's safe, not just on ranges

Need to figure out where I can get some non-led ammo over here though...

What are PBA pellets? oh, don't think I can get those here
here we go: http://www.iversen-import.dk/pi/Gamo_Ra … 4_655.aspx
expensive as hell though but I figure it's worth it considering the negative effects of led...

Still a better bet since scope is included and not a $60 extra... and it looks cooler

Okay, so I inheirited a starter's pistol, and I'm trying to get some more info on it.

It's stamped with the Walther logo, also says it's a Record Mod. A.

Try as I might, I can't find anything on it. Anyone know anything/where I can find out more?

Well, as I said it's a starter's pistol. It's also got the name Record Mod. A on it.

I think it's modeled on a PP, but I'd like to know more.

Yeah, I checked that. I did find out that Walther did make starter's pistols, and the Record was one of them, though. So I'm pretty sure it's genuine.

Bit of a morbid question here but.

Anyone know if a .22 (from a pistol) would overpenetrate a human skull or enter and just bounce around inside?

Different effects depending on range I would assume.

unrelated, my CO from when i was in the ATC told me a .22 from a rifle would leave a smallish hole in the front of someones head, but blow out most of the back of it. true/false?

Sounds like hollow points to me...

I saw a pick this week with a comparison of entry and exit holes from various calibers, a .22 was a tiny hole both ends where-as a magnum revolver round had a significant yet small entry and a HUGE exit...

I've seen this done with gallon jugs full of water that are supposed to represent the density of a person at gun safety classes.  Usually the front will have a small hole the size of the bullet and the back will be either split in half or completely blown out.  I'm not sure how well it really translates into shooting flesh, but it usually gets the point across that guns, no matter the caliber, are not toys.  As far as over penetration goes, it would probably depend on the type of .22 used.  Shorts definitely wouldn't do it, long rifle might, and magnums or hornets probably would go through both sides of the skull.

Hmm, well the Ruger uses LR so I guess it could be a mixed case of maybe/maybe not.

.22 revolvers are very much hit and miss, sometimes you get a good one, sometimes not. I think .22lr is just unsuited to use in a revolver and the associated manufacturing tolerances.
For .22 I'd always pick an automatic for target use.

Otherwise Smith and Wesson would be the first stop for a revolver, Taurus are cheaper and a bit crappier.

tell me about it, this is our criteria for prohibited firearms

    *   automatics, including those that have been converted so that they can only fire one projectile when the trigger is squeezed;
    * handguns with a barrel length of 105 mm (4.1 inches) or less, and handguns that discharge .25 or .32 calibre ammunition, except for a few specific models used in International Shooting Union competitions;.
    * rifles and shotguns that have been altered so that their barrel length is less than 457 mm (about 18 inches) or their overall length is less than 660 mm (about 26 inches); or
    * any firearm prescribed as prohibited -- These can be found in the fact sheet listing restricted and prohibited firearms.

what about the ruger single six?

not opposed to an automatic, just would prefer a revolver
