Oddly enough the shop that has the M82 also has a 20mm, but I don't particularly have a need for a 300 pound rifle or a desire to go through the class 3 process right now.seymorebutts443 wrote:

If you're just in it for the Tacti-cool, then the M82 is the ultimate toy for you.ghettoperson wrote:

The Surgeon is very very boring.
All the tolerances are monotonously tiny,
no surprising manufacturing errors to keep you guessing why your shots are missing at the range,
no multiple fun trips to the gunsmith to 'true this, tweak that, mill there, align here',
no odd character quirks to the action,
all the high-end barrel makers and gunsmiths know how to properly set one up,
it's similar enough to the omnipresent Rem700 to fit in the same stocks and use many of the same accesories,
Boring.. boring.. boring..
... and my old cranky self likes boring like that.
The M82 has a recoiling barrel assembly, to cut down on recoil. Similar to the recoil system on certain semi-auto shotguns.
For a variety of reasons, this is not good for accuracy.
If you want an off-the-shelf rifle that will put big holes in little targets very far away, get an Accuracy International in .338 Lapua.
If you want big bore, drop a 40mm M203 round on 'em, or just call in an airstrike or artillery
I'd love to try one of these out;Dilbert_X wrote:
Accuracy International decided not to market it in the UK, at least that was the case a while ago.

The holder for a spare magazine is installed in the front of the trigger guard to decrease reloading time.
Meh, I decided against the M82. The only reason I even really asked about it was because the offer was there. Instead, I bought a late war Japanese Type 99 which still had the Imperial Crest on it and came with the bayonet and a Luger. Less money spent and the guns are more to my WWII interests.

Blame this guy for that.
I own no gun, but I do have an antique crossbow kind of like this one, except older and a bit larger.
Does it have a scope and tactical buttstock?pace51 wrote:
