A lend-lease Enfield No.4 Mk 1* I bought was extremely lead and copper fouled. The rifling was barely visible when I looked down that sewerpipe. I probably spent 7 or 8 hours over a week soaking and scrubbing that barrel with Hoppe's No. 9. It looked great and shot ok when I was done. you can also get lead solvents.

No. 9 is not having a lot of impact, all the other firearms I've had No. left for a few days and the fouling just falls out..
Lead removal cloth and JB seem to be equally abrasive to steel, ie they take off rust quickly and put a slight haze on bare steel test pieces I've tried, they do take the lead out reasonably effectively though but I'm trying to be sparing with them.
Think I need more patience and to let the oil do the work.

sometimes it just takes patience. That enfield was the worst I've ever had to deal with. I used at least 200 patches and wore out an oversized .338 brush.
I've got through a roll of 4x2 already, trouble with lead is its the Kung-Fu Panda of the fouling world, everything you throw at it just bounces off.
With bronze brushes and No. 9 its hard to tell if its fouling or dissolved brush (or barrel metal...) on the patch.

May be hard on certain older plastics, not good to leave on wood, and may damage cold-blue finishes.
Clean barrel with normal cleaners after, to remove WD-40 residue. CLP works well as an after-WD40 solution.
Kano's Aero Kroil. Supposedly, it's like WD-40 from hell.
Another voodoo trick I've not tried is 50/50 mix of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide
I've heard about white vinegar/hydrogen peroxide, no plans to try it TBH, also heard of Kroil which doesn't seem to be available here.
Sticking with Inox, which seems more volatile than WD40 but I'll get a can anyway, and will try to find a real .32 brush, .30 is very stiff in the bore but maybe not enough.

One guy I know accidentally put a double load of powder into a .45ACP cartridge. It blew the case apart, shot the contents of the magazine through the baseplate, and he got hit by some burning powder (nothing serious for him). The 1911 was fine though!
