Problem when attempting to start 2142

hmm. I have don't get that problem.. And i have updated my computer (last friday) and its working all fine with me..

This is one of the reasons I didnt buy on release

The other reason is Im not spending $100 on a game that EA defintally knows is not worth that much, especially with these ingame ads

Normally when a game implements ingame ads, its suppose to make the game cheaper itself

Now with this, its like being assraped everytime you look at an ad, they're just laughing at you "Look who paid full price for the game and whores them self out looking at our ads making us rich!"

Speaking of which, can anyone actually post one or two of the ads?

Well yeah Sarrk, tha's why I'm stoked I got it for free.
The point is, now I have it, I would like to play it. Two coninciding issues that I don't think the old EA team thinks about; once you get to the have part of BF2142, there is no necessity for the play part.

I'll see what the EA tech support goons can do to help me. Meh.

No I don't have that problem, but I might if I could ever get past log on, it accepts my password as trollmeat & then asks me to make a clan tag or create a new account. Thats where I'm stuck at, no matter how I proceed I cannot get past log on. Glad I didn't pay for this game or I'd be pissed lolz.

well got it to work with an altered version of my name but no vet award, game seems fun despite the early drama. I have no room to complain though since I didn't even have to purchase it
It will be a nice back up shooter between bugs & patches .

I'm probably being stupid here but what is GameLauncher? When I start 2142 up it's a program caled BF2142Pace.exe (IIRC).

When you installed the game did you also install the Gamespy Arcade (or whatever it's called now) or did you skip it. I know I skipped it like I did with BF2, perhaps that's worth a try.

I didn't install Gamespy Arcade, seemed pointless.
I don't have any virtual CD programmes.
And EA are not helping!
Finally,
I lost my Mod badge because I'm just too cool for skool.
Hmm. I'll try messing with it. Bloody annoying though. Do you reckon it's got anything to do with the fact that 2142 hasn't released in NZ yet? Could be some thingime to keep me back. I doubt it though.

Error #3 may be small, but I don't know what the fuck to do about him. This may be a long fight.

Edit: There seems to be a tag-team thing going on. Error #2 is not finished with me. Every other attempted start results in error #2.

You purchased/recieved 2142 via EA downloader - Ya?

Ok, Assuming thats a yes, apparently you need to be logged into the EA downloader to run the game, so try that - Log in, and start the game from there, like steam.

Get on steam, Ill talk you through it from there.

Hi Ty,

You don't actually need to start the game from downloader, just be logged in.

I don't know if the EC 5510 error is anything like the EC 5570 error but the fix for that was to download ED downloader again and install it over the top of your existing installation. EA have also offered a solution but their's involves copying out youEAD cache folder, uninstalling EAD, reinstalling and then copying the cahce back.

I'd say the first option of installing over the existing is easiest.

Hmm, I don't even have EA downloader autostart when windows loads and the last time I logged into it was when I downloaded 2142 last thurs and i've never had a problem starting game.
Anyone else or just me?

Phew. Guys, the fight was long and hard, but the errors ended up bruised and beaten. I just messed with the files until it worked, so if anyone else ever has this problem, don't hesitate to send me a message.
