I've searched for this and didn't find anything so if it's on another thread exists discussing this please point me to it and don't troll me.
I got BF2142 today. Installed and Patched to 1.01 no problem. Here's my system specs...
P4 3.06Ghz
ATI Radeon 9800Pro 256MB
1GB 333Mhz DDR
WinXP Pro
This is a dedicated gaming system... there are no "accessory" program. No productivty software, nothing. It's just an updated WinXP install and games. That's it.
Here's what's up...
During multiplayer I have to have my graphics set to the lowest settings to make the game playable. 800x600, and everything else down and I barely get 15fps online. I thought it was because the 2142 was just heavy on the system. Anyway, after some fustrating game play due to the choppy graphics I decided to hop into single player mode. Much to my surprse the game was much more responsive. At the previous metioned settings I was going well into the 60fps, and hitting 70 one and a while. Surprise, I decided to turn the settings back up to 1024x768 and some things to medium and high, and 2x AA. I went back into single and I was still getting 35+ fps.
So, thinking that it might be a fluke I decided to head back online and get into a small game (16players) and see how thigns go then. WHAM. No luck. In fact it was the worst thing I've ever experienced in any BF game so far. Maybe, maybe 1 fps. It took about 5 min just to escape out so I could disconnect and reset the settings.
Anyway, for right now I've set everything back to 800x600 and low. The game is barely playable, though there are moments where the frame rate suffers, and it's hard to do anything. I could be crazy, but I think the game runs worse in Titan mode online than in Conquest. Honestly I don't know for sure, and I'm wondiering if people are experencing the same thing and does anyone know if this is a known problem that EA/DICE are going to resolve?
Wouldn't be a BF game without some sort of problem on the outset.
