I had only one gig of RAM before and had the same problem, and I bought another gig but it interfered with the first gig and i had to take it out again. Then it took me a few weeks to get the right ram, and i realized that my system inside was unbelievably hot when i had been playing bf2 for over and hour. I opened my case to let it breathe and bf2 played fine. I installed the extra gig of ram, and it is nice to load the maps online fastest and get there before everyone, but actual gameplay was not increased by alot. 1 gig worked just as fine for gameplay. So you might think about opening your case while you're playing and seeing if that doesn't help.
